摘要： A component for a vehicle comprises two or more first members each formed of a plateable resin and defining a front surface, wherein the front surfaces of the first members (i) are spaced apart from each other such that they appear discontinuous and (ii) collectively correspond to an outer surface of the component, a second member formed of a non-plateable resin and connected to each of the first members and a chrome plating applied to one or more exposed surfaces of each of the first members. A method of manufacturing the component involves utilizing one or more molds and removing a non-plated component comprising the first members and the second member from one of the one or more molds, attaching the non-plated component to a plating rack, such as via a permanent or temporary conductive circuit, and then performing the chrome plating.

摘要： An aqueous acidic trivalent chromium electrolyte comprising trivalent chromium ions and a complexing agent for maintaining the trivalent chromium ions in solution is provided in which the aqueous electrolyte comprises additives capable of producing a coating on a substrate having a desired dark hue. The additives typically comprise a dispersion of colloidal silica and an additional additive selected from thiocyanate ions and/or iron ions. The electrolyte is used in a method of producing the desired dark-hued decorative chromium coating on a substrate by electrodeposition.

摘要： A chromium plating method wherein an article to be plated is immersed in an acidic chromium electroplating bath and electrolysis is carried out using a positive electrode that has an iridium oxide-containing film at least on the surface. The acidic chromium electroplating bath contains a trivalent chromium compound and a hexavalent chromium compound at a ratio such that the total chromium concentration of trivalent chromium and hexavalent chromium is 60-140 g/L, the hexavalent chromium concentration is 5-40 g/L, and the ratio of the hexavalent chromium concentration is 5-35% by mass of the total chromium concentration, while containing 50-400 g/L of organic carboxylate ions and having a lead ion concentration of not more than 2 mg/L. By the method, a chromium plating film that is good and stable over a long time period can be obtained. In addition, the plating bath can be controlled extremely easily in the chromium plating method.

摘要： A black plated resin part includes a resin base material, an underlying plating layer including a copper plating layer and a nickel plating layer formed in this order on the resin base material, a black chromium plating layer formed on the nickel plating layer, formed of trivalent chromium, and having a film thickness of not less than 0.15 μm, and a corrosion resistant film formed on the black chromium plating layer, formed of chromic phosphate or molybdenum phosphate, and having a film thickness of not less than 7 nm. A brightness of the black chromium plating layer seen through the corrosion resistant film is expressed by an L* value of not more than 54 based on the L*a*b* color system.
