摘要： A process for making a noise absorber carpet including a fabric layer portion and a resinous backing layer portion including the substantially concurrent steps of continuously feeding a softened resinous backing material from a backing resin feeder onto a backing roll to form a continuous resinous backing sheet thereon, and continuously feeding a heated continuous fabric sheet via a fabric roll onto the backing sheet continuously formed on the backing roll, wherein the backing roll includes spike depressions and perforation pins on its surface, and wherein the fabric roll is located close to the backing roll to press the fabric sheet against the backing sheet as the sheets proceed between the rolls and mold spikes and perforations on the backing sheet, the backing roll being cooled to a temperature range between 10 degrees Celsius and 50 degrees Celsius with a cooling medium to harden said spikes and perforations and provide bonding between the fabric sheet and the backing sheet.

摘要： Light weight acoustic carpet including porous carpeting backed by a primary sound reducing layer and localized secondary insulators for use within vehicles, and methods of making same, are provided. A porous carpet structure including a carpet backing is heated to achieve a fluid or semi-fluid state and then subjected to intense vacuum to draw air through the carpet backing to create a porous structure. A layer of sound absorbing or insulating material may be applied to the porous carpet structure to provide improved acoustic properties. Secondary sound reducing absorbers/insulators may further be included as part of the molding process to provide selected areas of increased thickness and provide tailoring of sound attenuation.

摘要： Sound attenuating laminates for use within vehicles are provided that include a substrate and polyurethane attached to selected portions of the substrate. The polyurethane is non-porous and serves as a barrier to attenuate sound passing through the substrate. Additional non-porous polyurethane may be added to one or more selected portions of the polyurethane layer to enhance sound attenuation characteristics in the one or more selected portions. Sound attenuating laminates for use within vehicles are provided that include a substrate and breathable polyurethane attached to selected portions of the substrate. The polyurethane serves as an absorber of sound (e.g., sound generated within a vehicle compartment). Additional breathable polyurethane may be added to one or more selected portions of the polyurethane layer to enhance sound absorption characteristics in the one or more selected portions. Porous, breathable carpet assemblies for use in vehicles, are provided and include a substrate and a porous carpet layer with breathable, porous polyurethane sandwiched therebetween. Breathable polyurethane may be applied onto the substrate second surface in one or more areas to enhance sound absorption characteristics of the carpet assembly.
