    摘要: A device for conveying waste includes a waste feed chute. A stationary conveyor pipe is connected to the waste feed chute and has a sealed-off end and a housing with a nonround cross section defining a longitudinal direction. A screw conveyor is disposed in the longitudinal direction of the conveyor pipe. A motor drives the screw conveyor. A pyrolysis reactor into which the conveyor pipe discharges, defines a first space between the housing of the conveyor pipe and the pyrolysis reactor. The pyrolysis reactor has an inlet end and a longitudinal axis about which the pyrolysis reactor is rotatable. An inlet tube in which the sealed-off end of the conveyor pipe is disposed, defines a second space between the inlet tube and the conveyor pipe. The inlet tube communicates with the inlet end of the pyrolysis reactor and has a smaller cross section than the pyrolysis reactor. At least one supply line leads from outside into the pyrolysis reactor. The at least one supply line is disposed in the first space and is extended through the second space.

    摘要: A low-temperature carbonization drum for waste includes many heating tubes located in the interior. The tubes are each secured by one end to a first end plate and by the other end to a second end plate. At least one support location for supporting the heating tubes is provided between the two end plates to prevent them from sagging. Each support location is divided into at least two spaced-apart partial supports, each with one bracket configuration. Each bracket configuration includes a plurality of support brackets that are located in the same plane as one another. The support brackets are located one after another (are staggered) and are rotationally offset from one another. As a result, the solid material in the waste can be transported largely unimpeded past the support locations.

    摘要: A burner assembly has a combustion chamber in which combustion takes place in an elongate centrally disposed combustion tube. An outer housing encases the combustion tube and provides an annular space between an inner wall of the housing and the combustion tube. Part of the exhaust gases exiting from the combustion tube are diverted from the downstream end thereof to be returned through the annular space to the upstream end of the combustion tube. Fuel is injected into the diverted exhaust gases, volatilized when in liquid form and mixed with the diverted gases. The fuel and gas mixture is further combined with a buffer gas and becomes entrained into and mixed with a high velocity of combustion air which is injected into the upstream end of the combustion tube. The flame temperature may be monitored and the quantity of the buffer gas added may be controllably varied based on temperature readings from the monitoring process to minimize the generation of nitrous oxides.

    摘要: Mobile incinerating system for low level radioactive solid wastes, consisting of an installation mounted on a mobile platform and consisting of a rotating combustion chamber into which the wastes to be incinerated are to be inserted from a feeder equipped with a loader. The rotating chamber communicates with a post-combustion chamber. Between these two chambers there is a third gas transit chamber from which the ashes produced drop into a lower collector after having passed a tray fitted with two alternately operating gates. Downstream of the chambers there is a first dilutor followed by a heat exchanger associated with fans. Immediately downstream of the heat exchanger is a decanter followed by a second dilutor from which the gas mixture passes through filters. The level of activity of the gases is controlled by means of a monitor located downstream of the filter.

    摘要: A process is provided for burning refuse containing polyvinyl chloride without the consequent production of phosgene. The refuse is carbonized in a rotary furnace at temperatures below 1200 degrees F., especially 700 degrees F., in an oxygen deficient atmosphere. A burnable gas containing the carbonized refuse is drawn from the furnace by an air jet wherein same is mixed with oxygen and selectively combusted. Uncarbonized refuse is collected and withdrawn after exiting the furnace. An apparatus is provided for combustion of the refuse in the nonphosgene generating process and includes the rotary furnace. Special seals are provided for the furnace to prevent excess oxygen from entering thereinto. In particular, the seals are utilized between the rotary ends of the furnace and stationary head associated with each end respectively. Each seal includes an upper and lower flap of fire resistant material secured to an end of the furnace and a companion flap of like material is secured to an associated end of the stationary head such that the intermediate flap sealably slides between the upper and lower flaps during rotation of the furnace thereby substantially sealing between the furnace and the stationary head.
