摘要: A method for checking the functionality of a high-voltage protective device for an on-board vehicle electrical system is provided. The protective device has a varistor or a different voltage limiting element. The method provides that the capacitive component of the alternating current impedance of the varistor or the voltage limiting element is detected. The capacitive component is further compared to a rated capacitance value, where the rated capacitance value is characteristic of the capacitance of a functioning varistor or voltage limiting element. A defective state of the varistor or the voltage limiting element is determined when the comparison determines that the capacitive component deviates from the rated capacitance value by more than a predetermined magnitude. Furthermore, a high-voltage protection circuit for a vehicle and a high-voltage on-board vehicle electrical system is provided.

摘要: An electronic device and a method for protecting an equipment from voltage surge damage are provided. The method includes: electrically connecting an input terminal of a one-way pass circuit to a first equipment and electrically connecting an output terminal of the one-way pass circuit to a second equipment; electrically connecting an over-voltage check circuit to the output terminal and a regenerative resistor circuit, wherein the regenerative resistor circuit includes a resistor; detecting, by the over-voltage check circuit, a voltage of the output terminal; and electrically, by the over-voltage check circuit, connecting the output terminal to the resistor in response to the voltage being greater than a voltage threshold.

摘要: An overvoltage protection circuit which can be applied to a motor controller is provided. The overvoltage protection circuit is coupled to an input terminal for receiving an input voltage. The overvoltage protection circuit comprises a switch circuit, a controller, and a comparing unit. When the input voltage is greater than a first voltage, a discharging mechanism is forced to start so as to suppress a voltage spike. When the input voltage is less than a second voltage, the discharging mechanism is closed so as to operate normally.

摘要: Embodiments of disclosure generally relate to integrated circuits (ICs) and, more particularly, a voltage-triggered edge-insensitive electrostatic discharge (ESD) clamp for protection of ICs. An example trigger circuit is provided for controlling a current shunt in an IC. The trigger circuit generally includes a comparison circuit configured to compare a monitored voltage to a reference voltage and output a signal indicating when the monitored voltage reaches or exceeds the reference voltage; and a shunt circuit configured to shunt the current based on receiving the signal from the comparison circuit. The voltage-triggered edge-insensitive clamp provides a single protection circuit that protects against all types of ESD and/or electrostatic overstress (EOS) events.

摘要: A protected capacitor system/method implementing enhanced transient over-voltage suppression is disclosed. The system/method incorporates one or more surge suppression devices (SSDs) proximally located and in parallel with a capacitor structure to produce an overall protected capacitor structure having enhanced reliability and simultaneous ability to resist transient overvoltage conditions. The SSDs are formed from series combinations of transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSs) (metal oxide varistor (MOV), diode for alternating current (DIAC), and/or silicon diode for alternating current (SIDAC)) and corresponding shunt diode rectifiers (SDRs) and placed in parallel across a capacitor structure to locally suppress voltage transients across the capacitor structure in excess of the voltage rating of the capacitor structure. The parallel shunting TVS/SDR pairs may be integrated into a printed circuit board (PCB) assembly that is externally attached to the capacitor structure or encapsulated in an enclosure incorporating the capacitor structure.
