Abstract:
The present invention provides a solid material comprising an immobilized mixture of two or more proteorhodopsins, two or more bacteriorhodopsins, or one or more bacteriorhodopsin and one or more proteorhodopsins. The proteorhodopsins are selected from the group consisting of all-trans-retinal-containing proteorhodopsins and retinal analog-containing proteorhodopsins; all of which have absorption spectra that do not overlap. The bacteriorhodopsins are selected from the group consisting of all-trans-retinal-containing bacteriorhodopsins and retinal analog-containing bacteriorhodopsins; all of which have absorption spectra that do not overlap. The present invention also provides an optical information carrier, such as an optical data storage material and a fraud-proof optical data carrier, comprising the above-described solid material and a substrate selected from the group consisting of glass, paper, metal, fabric material, and plastic material, wherein said solid material is deposited on said substrate. The present invention further provides security ink comprising one or more hydrophilic polymers and a mixture of various photochromic materials.
Abstract:
The invention relates to modified electrodes for ER fluids prepared by adding a rough, wear-resisting, and low conductive modified layer on the surface of metallic electrodes. The material for the modified layer can be at least one from diamond, alumina, titanium dioxide, carborundum, titanium nitride, nylon, polytetrafluoroethylene, adhesive, and adhesive film. Through the addition of the modified layer, the adhesion of the ER fluid to electrodes is increased so that the shear stress measured near the plates is close to the intrinsic value, which makes the ER fluid applicable, while reducing the leakage current and increasing the breakdown voltage of the ER fluid equipment.
Abstract:
A color imaging element, a photosensor and a photoelectric transducer which use a protein and are capable of being stably used for a long time, and methods of manufacturing them are provided. A zinc-substituted cytochrome c552 is immobilized on a gold electrode with a self-assembled monolayer in between to form a blue-light photoelectric transducer. Alternatively, a cytochrome c552 is immobilized on a gold electrode with a self-assembled monolayer in between, and a fluorescent protein absorbing blue light is bonded to the cytochrome c552, thereby forming a blue-light photoelectric transducer. These photoelectric transducers each are used as a color imaging element or a blue-light photoelectric transducer of a photosensor.

Abstract:
A metal surface is coated with a coating comprising, in succession starting from the metal: optionally, a primer layer; optionally, a tie layer; and a polyamide-based layer consisting of a blend of a polyamide and of a polyolefin functionalized by an unsaturated carboxylic acid anhydride. Advantageously, the metal surface is the outer surface of a tube, particularly a small-diameter pipe having, for example, an outside diameter of 4 to 50 mm. The metal may be any metal, but the coating is very useful for steel and its alloys and for aluminium and its alloys. The optionally, a tie layer; aluminium may be anodized. Thus, the coated surface can comprise aluminium, the anodizing layer, the optional primer, the optional tie and the PA-based layer. The steel may be coated with zinc or a Zn-based alloy (such as, for example, a ZnnullAl or ZnnullFe mixture) or with aluminium or an Al-based alloy and/or treated by chromatizing or phosphatizing. Thus, the coated surface can comprise steel, the optional zinc or aluminium layer, the optional chromatizing or phosphatizing treatment layer, the optional primer, the optional tie and the PA-based layer. Preferably, the chromatizing is carried out with CrIII.
