    摘要: Disclosed is a fracture fixation device, for reducing and compressing fractures in a bone. The fixation device includes an elongate body comprising a first portion and a second portion that are detachably coupled to each other. The first portion defines a helical cancellous bone anchor and the second portion defines a distal end. An axially moveable proximal anchor is carried by the proximal end of the fixation device and is rotationally locked to the first portion. The device is rotated into position across the femoral neck and into the femoral head, and the proximal anchor is distally advanced to lock the device into place. The second portion is then detached from the first portion.

    摘要: The present invention is directed toward a method and apparatus for performing an internal fixation of fractures of tubular bones using a balloon catheter fixation device which is guided and transported through the medullary canal and fracture site of the bone by a plurality of guide wires mounted in said balloon catheter fixation device. A bone cement is applied to the fracture site and the balloon catheter is inflated inside the bone and tightened by applying pressure on the catheter outside of the bone by tightening the catheter tube and holding the same in place in an inflated condition to apply a compression force across the fracture site enhancing the stability of the fractured bone and promoting osseous healing.

    摘要: A surgical device for percutaneous connection of a fractured upper part of the femur to the shaft comprises: a connector plate with a lower straight portion for screwed connection to the femur shaft and with a sharp bottom end for insertion through a small skin incision, having its upper portion perforated by two oblique, tapped bores for fixation of two long screws serving for connection of the fractured parts. Each screw has a wood-screw-shaped inner end and a cylindrical shaft with a hexagonal recess at its outer end which is continued by a tapped bore. Each screw is slidingly positioned in a sleeve which has its outer end slotted and screw-threaded for fixation in the oblique bores of the plate. The connector plate is positioned and fastened to the femur by an angular connector arm composed of a short horizontal arm for firm perpendicular connection to the top of the plate by a long screw, and a vertical portion parallel to the plate provided with bores coaxial with the bores in the plate for guidance of the screws. A screwdriver contains a central shaft having a screw-threaded inner end for engagement with the tapped bores in the screw ends, an intermediate tubular shaft having its inner end hexagonally shaped for engagement with the recesses in the screw ends, and an outer tubular shaft provided with teeth for engagement with the slots in the sleeve ends. All three shafts can be independently rotated and axially moved by separate grips at the outer end of the screwdriver.

    摘要: Apparatus and instruments for percutaneously extending an existing spinal construct ipsilaterally with an additional spinal construct in a patient are disclosed. The additional spinal construct comprises a rod connector that includes an elongate additional rod integrally attached thereto. The additional rod is placed through an access port in a first orientation generally parallel to the longitudinal axis of the access port and rotated to a different second orientation generally transverse to the longitudinal axis of the access port. During such rotation the additional rod is moved subcutaneously beneath the skin of the patient from the existing spinal rod to an additional bone engaging implant. In another arrangement, the extension of an existing spinal construct in a minimally invasive procedure comprises a rod connector having an offset support for receiving an additional spinal rod that may be placed laterally interiorly or exteriorly of the existing spinal construct.
