Abstract: In one aspect, an example method for generating a candidate image for use as backdrop imagery for a graphical user interface is disclosed. The method includes receiving a raw image and determining an edge image from the raw image using edge detection. The method also includes identifying a candidate region of interest (ROI) in the raw image based on the candidate ROI enclosing a portion of the edge image having edge densities exceeding a threshold edge density. The method also includes manipulating the raw image relative to a backdrop imagery canvas for a graphical user interface based on a location of the candidate ROI within the raw image. The method also includes generating, based on the manipulating, a set of candidate backdrop images in which at least a portion of the candidate ROI occupies a preselected area of the backdrop imagery canvas, and storing the set of candidate backdrop images.

Abstract: Provided is a cognitive experiment method for change in periphery region image quality for parameter determination of a foveated hologram. According to an embodiment, a cognitive experiment method for determining foveated image parameters includes: generating a foveated image which includes a foveal region and a periphery region while reducing image quality regarding the periphery region; displaying the generated foveated image; receiving an input of a response to image quality of the periphery region from a subject; and collecting information regarding appropriate image quality of the periphery region, based on the response inputted by the subject. Accordingly, in applying a foveated hologram generation algorithm for real-time reproduction, various parameters such as a boundary between a foveal region image and a periphery region image in a foveated hologram, and a degree of quality degradation of the periphery region image may be appropriately determined through a cognitive experiment.

Further, the apparatus may adjust an amount of the plurality of pixels in each of the scanning windows for each of the detected features. The apparatus may also combine the adjusted amount of the plurality of pixels for each of the detected one or more features into a plurality of output pixels. The apparatus may also process each of the plurality of output pixels into at least one output image.

Abstract: A method of de-mosaicing pixel data from an image processor includes generating a pixel block that includes a plurality of image pixels. The method also includes determining a first image gradient between a first set of pixels of the pixel block and a second image gradient between a second set of pixels of the pixel block. The method also includes determining a first adaptive threshold value based on intensity of a third set of pixels of the pixel block. The pixels of the third set of pixels are adjacent to one another. The method also includes filtering the pixel block in a vertical, horizontal, or neutral direction based on the first and second image gradients and the first adaptive threshold value utilizing a plurality of FIR filters to generate a plurality of component images.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and a non-transitory computer-readable medium storing program code for anti-aliasing images may be provided. The method may include obtaining a first edge pixel of an image in a high-dynamic range (HDR) space and determining a first scaling factor based on a local brightness environment of the first edge pixel. The method may also include determining a color ratio corresponding with the first edge pixel and scaling the color ratio to obtain a first color ratio. Then the first color value is obtained based on a color value of the first edge pixel, a color value of a target pixel, and the first color ratio, wherein the target pixel has a large color value difference from the first edge pixel among a plurality of surrounding pixels of the first edge pixel; and updating the first color value to the color value of the first edge pixel.
