摘要: A method of providing active illumination during biometry that utilizes pulsed lighting synchronized to frame acquisition. Two distinct illumination modalities are provided: the first maximizes the quality of images captured by the imaging system, and the second minimizes the overall illumination perceived by the user in combination with the first. The two modalities are provided substantially simultaneously. The first modality always includes a set of pulses synchronized with frame acquisition. The second modality may be either a second set of pulses not synchronized with frame acquisition or constant background illumination. The two modalities may be generated by two separate sources of illumination or by the same single illumination source. Adding the second modality to the first reduces user discomfort and the chances of an epileptic response as compared to using the first modality alone. The two modalities may have different wavelengths, pulse durations, or intensities.

摘要: A manufacturing method for manufacturing an electronic device is disclosed. Conductive elastomers comprising of various configurations and resistivity are coupled to contact pads of an electronic device. The conductive elastomers are also coupled to substrate contacts on a substrate, allowing the conductive elastomers to function as electrical connection from device to substrate as well as to embed one or more passive components at the contact pads of the electronic device.

摘要: A machine tool with a generator for generating electrical power is disclosed. The generator has a stator with a coil and a rotor with a magnet. The rotor is capable of moving relative to the stator. An air gap is formed between the rotor and the stator. The stator and the rotor comprise a material with a relative permeability greater than the relative permeability of air and are arranged in such a way that magnetic lines of force of the magnet are guided in a targeted manner with respect to the coil. The air gap between the stator and the rotor is configured in such a way that a large proportion of the lines of force emanating from the magnet are guided by the stator and the rotor.

The rotor is capable of moving relative to the stator and has a first region and a second region. The rotor is configured in such a way that, during a movement of the rotor relative to the stator, a magnetic flux in the coil is changed due to differences between the first and second regions in terms of their magnetic permeability and/or in terms of their geometric configuration, and an electrical voltage is induced.

摘要: An LED array and a method for controlling such an array is described. The array includes one or more LED-optical sensor pairs in which the optical sensor measures the light output of the associated LED. In some forms of the invention, the optical sensors are provided with filters to attenuate light at a wavelength different to that of the LED associated with that optical sensor. In some forms of the invention, the LED-optical sensor pairs are at least partially shielded from extraneous light. In one form of the invention a plurality of sets of LEDs is provided, each set outputting light having a different frequency and each set being controllable to provide a desired light output.
