Abstract: Wavelength-tunable source of pulsed laser radiation for VIS-NIR spectroscopy which consists of a pump source (1) forming bursts of picosecond pulses of high pulse repetition rate, and a synchronously pumped optical parametric oscillator (2). The pump source (1) comprises a solid-state regenerative amplifier (31) having one or two electro-optical switches (32,33) inside its resonator (44). The switches create partial transmission of the resonator for a time interval longer than a resonator roundtrip time, and eject a part of energy of a pulse circulating inside. Bursts of 5-10 ns duration are formed, which are filled with high peak power picosecond pulses. Pulse repetition rate of the order of GHz of pump pulses allows the construction of a compact optical parametric oscillator. The whole set of parameters ensures high energy efficiency, stability and an ability to provide output pulse bursts repeating at up to 10 kHz repetition rate.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods are disclosed for applying laser energy having desired pulse characteristics, including a sufficiently short duration and/or a sufficiently high energy for the photomechanical treatment of skin pigmentations and pigmented lesions, both naturally-occurring (e.g., birthmarks), as well as artificial (e.g., tattoos). The laser energy may be generated with an apparatus having a resonator with the capability of switching between a modelocked pulse operating mode and an amplification operating mode. The operating modes are carried out through the application of a time-dependent bias voltage, having waveforms as described herein, to an electro-optical device positioned along the optical axis of the resonator.

Abstract: An optical fiber microwave frequency transmission method based on laser frequency offset-locking includes: generating, by a master laser and a slave laser respectively, a master laser signal and a slave laser signal; transmitting, by an optical fiber link, the master laser signal and the slave laser signal to a microwave frequency receiver, and locking a frequency difference between the master laser and the slave laser to a preset microwave frequency; receiving a return laser signal returned from the microwave frequency receiver, the return laser signal including the master laser signal, the slave laser signal and a noise of the optical fiber link; generating a reference signal, and adjusting the preset microwave frequency to compensate the noise of the optical fiber link, so that a microwave frequency subsequently received by the microwave frequency receiver approaches a frequency of the reference signal.

Abstract: A class of erbium-doped silicate crystals have a general chemical formula of (ErxYbyCezA(1-x-y-z))3RM3Si2O14, in which the range of x is 0.002 to 0.02, y is 0.005 to 0.1, and z is 0 to 0.15; A is one, two or three elements selected from Ca, Sr, or Ba; R is one or two elements selected from Nb or Ta; M is one or two elements selected from Al or Ga. Using one of such crystals as a gain medium and a diode laser at 940 nm or 980 nm as a pumping source, a 1.5 μm continuous-wave solid-state laser with high output power and high efficiency, as well as a pulse solid-state laser with high energy and narrow width can be obtained.

Abstract: Provided are a time and frequency control method and system for optical comb. Abstract: A method and a system for automatically controlling mode-locking of an optical frequency comb, where the stored control parameters of the working condition in the mode-locked state is combined with the collected working feedback parameters of the optical frequency comb system to dynamically adjust and control the working power of the pump source or/and the temperature of the working environment of the pump source, which not only greatly shortens the control time for stable mode-locking and realizes a fast mode-locking control, but also reduces unnecessary power consumption, thereby further guaranteeing the energy-saving effect of power adjustment control process. The present disclosure well maintains the stable working conditions of the optical comb system, and realizes the mode-locking optimization control of an update mode for the big data, thereby effectively improving the mode-locking control process of the optical frequency comb system, and providing higher operation stability and measurement accuracy.
