    摘要: Method for generating a series of laser pulses with a laser assembly, the laser assembly at least having two reflecting members, a laser medium and an electro-optical modulator are disclosed. The laser assembly operates in a light amplifying mode and runs a pulse extraction sequence. The pulse extraction sequence is run by applying a defined voltage change with reference to the amplification voltage, wherein changing of the voltage is adjusted such that at least one intermediate switching state is generated on side of the electro-optical modulator, the intermediate switching state providing a particular change of polarization of the amplified laser radiation by the electro-optical modulator, such that a final switching state is generated on side of the electro-optical modulator by applying a final extraction voltage at the end of the time period.

    摘要: A system and method for controllably chirping electromagnetic radiation from a radiation source includes an optical cavity arrangement. The optical cavity arrangement enables electromagnetic radiation to be produced with a substantially linear chirp rate and a configurable period. By selectively injecting electromagnetic radiation into the optical cavity, the electromagnetic radiation may be produced with a single resonant mode that is frequency shifted at the substantially linear chirp rate. Producing the electromagnetic radiation with a single resonant mode may increase the coherence length of the electromagnetic radiation, which may be advantageous when the electromagnetic radiation is implemented in various applications. For example, the electromagnetic radiation produced by the optical cavity arrangement may enhance a range, speed, accuracy, and/or other aspects of a laser radar system.

Pump modules may be constructed using two reflector or three reflector VCSEL devices optionally integrated with microlens arrays and other optical components, to couple high power pump beams to a fiber output port. The pump module having a fiber output port is particularly suited to couple light to an inner cladding of a double-clad fiber, often used to configure high power fiber laser and fiber amplifier. The pump modules may be operated in CW, QCW and pulse modes to configure fiber lasers and amplifiers using single end, dual end, and regenerative optical pumping modes. Multiple-pumps may be combined to increase pump power in a modular fashion without significant distortion to signal, particularly for short pulse operation.
