    Abstract: A combined error checker and sequence generator which shares a LFSR is disclosed which reduces complexity, cost, and area required for implementation while also improving timing margin. A clock and data recovery system recovers a data signal received over a channel from a remote transceiver. Control logic selects different modes of operation of the system. An error detector compares the two sequence signals and records errors in response to differences between the two sequence signals. A sequence generator generates a sequence signal for use by the error detector as a reference sequence signal or for transmission to a remote transceiver. The system includes one or more switching elements configured to selectively route the generated sequence as feedback into the sequence generator or the received sequence signal into the sequence generator subject to whether the combined error checker and sequence generator is in error checker mode or sequence generator mode.

    Abstract: Technologies are provided for analyzing packet loss in network packet streams using windowed loss durations. A computing device can be configured to detect a first loss period in a network packet stream and a second, subsequent loss period in the network packet stream. The computing device can determine a number of packets received in the stream between the two loss periods, and can compare this number of packets to a specified recovery window length. If the number of packets received between the two loss periods is less than the recovery window length, then the computing device can treat the two loss periods, and the packets received between the two loss periods, as a single period of packet loss. The packet loss period can be treated as a single loss event for the purposes of analyzing network packet stream quality of experience and/or tuning packet loss compensation mechanisms.

    Abstract: To facilitate redundancy in a distributed control system architecture used in an industrial automation environment, a user workstation is connected to multiple enterprise access switches. Separate physical connections established between an application server and the enterprise access switches are configured into a single virtual interface for the application server to provide physical media redundancy between the application server and the enterprise access switches. Redundancy switches are connected to the enterprise access switches and to a first LAN and a second LAN, and are assigned unique IP addresses but communicate using a same default gateway IP address to serve as redundant default gateways. The redundancy switches are configured with a redundancy protocol that enables transmission of duplicate data packets over the first LAN and the second LAN. Redundant industrial controllers are connected to both the first LAN and the second LAN, wherein the redundant industrial controllers utilize non-swapping IP addresses.
