    摘要: A slider tester includes a disk, movable table, table drive mechanism, guide member, etc. A plurality of suspensions are mounted on the movable table. A slider is mounted on each suspension. A guide member can support respective lift tabs of the suspensions. The guide member includes a first guide surface, second guide surface, and opening arranged in a track width direction of the disk. When any of the lift tabs gets into the opening as the movable table moves in the track width direction of the disk, the slider is dropped toward a recording surface of the disk.

    摘要: This invention relates to a thermoplastic polymer composition that exhibits an excellent combination of properties for use in manufacturing shipping combs for use in conjunction with moving actuators for hard disk drives. The thermoplastic polymer composition of this invention is comprised of (1) from 10 weight percent to 90 weight percent polycarbonate, (2) from 1 weight percent to 6 weight percent carbon nanotubes, (3) from 5 weight percent to 85 weight percent of a sulfone polymer, (4) from 0.5 weight percent to 10 weight percent of a functionalized rubbery polymer, and (5) from 0.5 weight percent to 5 weight percent of a lubricant selected from the group consisting of high density polyethylene and polyester wax, wherein all weight percentages are based upon the total weight of the thermoplastic polymer composition. The present invention also relates to a shipping comb which is comprised of a frame, an installation rod, a handle, and a finger, wherein the shipping comb is comprised of a thermoplastic polymer composition which is comprised of (1) from 10 weight percent to 90 weight percent polycarbonate, (2) from 1 weight percent to 6 weight percent carbon nanotubes, (3) from 5 weight percent to 85 weight percent of a sulfone polymer, (4) from 0.5 weight percent to 10 weight percent of a functionalized rubbery polymer, and (5) from 0.5 weight percent to 5 weight percent of a lubricant selected from the group consisting of high density polyethylene and polyester wax, wherein all weight percentages are based upon the total weight of the thermoplastic polymer composition.

    摘要: Optically-coupled memory systems are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system memory includes a carrier substrate, and a controller attached to the carrier substrate and operable to transmit and receive optical signals, and first and second memory modules. The module substrate of the first memory module has an aperture formed therein, the aperture being operable to provide an optical path for optical signals between the controller and an optical transmitter/receiver unit of the second memory module. Thus, the system memory provides the advantages of “free space” optical connection in a compact arrangement of memory modules. In an alternate embodiment, the first memory module includes a beam splitter attached to the module substrate proximate the aperture. In another embodiment, the first and second memory modules are staged on the carrier substrate to provide an unobstructed path for optical signals. In another embodiment, the optical transmitter/receiver unit projects outwardly from the module substrate to provide an unobstructed path for optical signals.

    摘要: A method of assembling a carriage assembly is capable of suppressing deformation of spacer portions when suspensions are attached to carriage arms. The method of assembling a carriage assembly aligns fitting holes provided in front end portions of carriage arms and spacer holes provided in spacer portions of suspensions and places the suspensions onto the carriage arms, and then presses a ball with a diameter equal to or greater than an inner diameter of the spacer holes with a pressure-applying member to pass the ball through the spacer holes, thereby crimping spacer hole edge portions of the spacer portions and attaching the suspensions to the front end portions of the carriage arms. By applying ultrasonic vibration from two axial directions to the pressure applying member, the pressure applying member is caused to vibrate on a two dimensional movement path on a predetermined plane and passes the ball through the spacer holes while causing the ball to rotate.
