Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for renaming a logical register for which bit accesses of varying lengths are permitted, such as a predicate register. Rename logic supports renaming for both partial-bit accesses and bulk-bit accesses to bits of the register. Rename logic utilizes a rename map table associated with the logical register to be renamed and also includes a plurality of physical rename registers. They physical rename registers include a set of skinny physical rename registers to be used for renaming for partial-bit writes. The physical rename registers also include a set of fat physical rename registers to be used for renaming for bulk-bit writes. Additional sizes of physical rename registers may also be employed. The entries of the single physical rename map table may point to either fat or skinny physical rename registers.

Abstract: A lifting device pivotted to a refuse collection vehicle comprises an inner (21) and an outer (22) boom. It is extendable to the side of the vehicle so that a grab (30, 31) may engage and lift a refuse bin. Inner (40) and outer (41) links provide the booms with parallelogram-type linkages so that the grab is maintained horizontal throughout the lifting movement. At the fully raised position the grab is rotated to invert the bin and discharge its contents into a dual entranceway leading to two sections of a vehicle container i.e. an upper section superimposed on a lower section. A dividing wall inside the dual entranceway is moved to appropriate positions to guide bin contents into either or both sections. This dividing wall may also include a packer for the upper section. The lower section is provided with a packer plate which moves longitudinally due to extension of an hydraulic ram acting through a bellcrank linkage. The dual entranceway is situated at the front top of the vehicle container whilst respective upper and lower exits for the sections are provided at the vehicle rear.

Abstract: A twin grab head for bins adapted to be supported at the distal end of a vehicle carried lift arm assembly having a body (1) to be carried by the lift arm assembly, a pair of wraparound clamp arms (2), each deployable to protrude more distally from the vehicle when deployed to clamp a bin than when undeployed, and a deployable member (5) to protrude more distally from said body in a deployed condition than in its undeployed condition, the arrangement being such that, in use, in a deployed condition, said deployable member can act as a separating member for an adjacent pair of bins such that each of the clamp arms can clamp a different bin for an adjacent pair of appropriate bins thereagainst.

Abstract: A method and system for flexibly processing content objects is disclosed. The processing is performed with a content delivery network (CDN) having a number of geographically distributed points of presence (POPs). Content objects are ingest through landing pads and stored or otherwise processed in a flexible way where storage bricks and other resources are chosen flexibly by characterization tags. Policies are used to describe which content objects are processed by which categories of resources. A group of resources characterized by the tag are chosen when the processing is performed. When retrieving content, the content object can be stored on any storage brick found through the tag analysis process. A query is translated to addresses for the chosen storage brick(s).

Abstract: Techniques for the distribution of content objects in a content delivery network (CDN) are disclosed. In one embodiment, a CDN distribution server detects the availability of a content object and determines whether the content object is a candidate for distribution. The distribution server may detect the availability of the content object in response to a provider making new or updated content available at a content site or a location within the CDN. The distribution server obtains identifying information for a candidate content object and determines a select portion of the content object to be distributed within the CDN. The select portion can be a predetermined number of bytes located at a predetermined position in the content object, the size and location of which may be determined according to content-specific mapping data. The distribution server may push the select portion of the content object to one or more groups of CDN edge servers absent an end-user request.
