Abstract:
A waterproof-finished fabric and a sealing tape for a waterproof-finished fabric which have a waterproofing layer and, laminated thereon, a resin composition containing spherical particles having a specific particle diameter; and a piece of waterproof clothing using the fabric or the sealing tape. The clothing has good waterproofing properties, is comfortable to wear, is lightweight and further can be manufactured at a low cost.
Abstract:
Abrasive articles and a method for the manufacture of such articles are described. The articles comprise a lofty nonwoven web of fibers, the fibers defining a first major web surface, a second major web surface and a middle web portion extending between the first and second major web surfaces; and a plurality of abrasive particles adhered to the surfaces of the fibers of at least one of the first or second major web surfaces and distributed along the lengths of the fibers in a substantially uniform manner, the particles comprising a distribution of particle sizes having a median particle diameter of about 60 microns or less.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a cleaning device comprising a cleaning composition and a substrate. The cleaning composition comprises an absorbent particulate, a binding agent, and optionally, a thickening agent. The cleaning composition may be applied to a substrate, such as a textile substrate, by applying the composition to at least one portion of the surface of the substrate or by incorporating the composition throughout the substrate. The absorbent particulate generally exhibits a high affinity for particles, color, grease, oil, and other staining materials and is a soft material which allows for gentle cleaning of most surfaces without detrimentally abrading and scratching soiled surfaces. The absorbent particulate also serves as an indicator providing a visual cue of its cleaning efficacy and may be used in either a wet or dry state.
Abstract:
The invention provides a treated textile material having a finish applied to at least a portion of the surface thereof. The finish comprises at least one particulate component which exhibits a positive surface charge when suspended in an aqueous medium. The invention further provides a process for producing a treated textile material comprising the steps of (a) providing a textile material having a surface, (b) providing a suspension comprising a medium and at least one particulate component, the particulate component exhibiting a positive surface charge when suspended in an aqueous medium, (c) applying the suspension to at least a portion of the surface of the textile material, and (d) heating the textile material to remove the medium from the textile material and produce a finish comprising the particulate component on the surface of the textile material.
Abstract:
The invention comprises a flexible adsorbent-loaded filter formed from a flexible support web and attached adsorbent particles. The adsorbent-loaded filter has open filter cells which are defined by the support web and the attached adsorbent particles and are random in size and orientation through the length and depth of the filter. The support web is formed of substantially nonlinear filaments that randomly intersect. The adsorbent particles largest average cross sectional dimension is smaller than the average diameter of the pores of the support web. When the flexible adsorbent loaded filter is flexed about a radius of curvature 20 mm, the percent increase in pressure drop is less than 100 percent when measured at a face velocity of 0.25 m/s.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a friction material comprising a fibrous base material primary layer of less fibrillated aramid fibers, synthetic graphite and at least one filler material, and a secondary layer of a mixture of carbon particles and at least one retention aid coated on at least one surface of the primary layer. In certain embodiments, the fibrous base material is impregnated with a phenolic or phenolic-based resin material, including, for example, a mixture of a phenolic resin and a silicone resin to form a friction material having high heat resistance and high friction durability characteristics.
Abstract:
Sheet-like products, such as tissue products made from a low-density web, are disclosed containing an additive composition. The additive composition, for instance, comprises an aqueous dispersion containing an alpha-olefin polymer, and an ethylene-carboxylic acid copolymer. The additive composition may be applied to the surface of the web so that it does not thoroughly or even substantially penetrate the web. For instance, the additive may be applied to one or both surfaces of the web by gravure printing, press coating, spraying or the like. The additive composition may improve the strength of the tissue web and/or improve the perceived softness of the web.
Abstract:
A retroreflective garment constructed of flame resistant fabric. The garment is light-weight and can be single or double layered. Garments that can be constructed of flame resistant fabric with retroreflective elements applied thereon include garments such as, for example, shirts, pants, coveralls, jumpsuits, jackets, gloves, hats, etc. The flame resistant fabric has a coefficient of retroreflection of about 10 to about 500 candelas per lux per square meter. In addition, the retroreflective elements cover at least about 5 percent of the outer surface of the flame resistant fabric.
