Dabei kann dieses aus Resten einer anderen Produktionslinie stammende Kunststoff-Material ohne wesentliche Verringerung des Anteils von Kunststoff und/oder Verunreinigungen als besagte kohlenstoffhaltige Fasern enthaltende Kunststoffmasse verwendet werden oder es kann dieses aus Resten stammende Kunststoff-Material vor der Wieder-Verwendung aufbereitet werden, indem der Anteil von Kunststoff sowie von Verunreinigungen in diesem Reste-Material erheblich verringert wird.

A method for manufacturing a carbon-ceramic brake disk of the present method comprises: a first step of preparing a mixture by mixing carbon fiber and phenolic resin; a second step of manufacturing a molded body by pouring the mixture into the mold and pressing; a third step of carbonizing the molded body; a fourth step of machine-processing the carbonized molded body; a fifth step of coating the machine-processed molded body with liquid phenol and hardening; a sixth step of melting silicon and permeating same into the molded body which is coated with the liquid phenol and hardened; and a seventh step of polishing the molded body which is permeated with the silicon. When using the present invention, cracks do not form on an oxidization-resistant coating layer. As a result, air cannot contact and oxidize the surface of the carbon-ceramic brake disk via the cracks thereby rendering superior oxidization resistance of the carbon-ceramic brake disk.

A method of forming a three dimensional fibre structure is disclosed which comprises the steps of a) providing a starting material which comprises liquid carrier, fibres and binder; b) passing the starting material over a substrate so as to deposit fibres onto the substrate; c) forming a three dimensional fibre matrix; and d) curing the binder. The flow of material onto the substrate may be controlled such that the flow of a starting material over the substrate is chaotic and fibres are laid down in a three dimensional structure containing a high proportion of voids. The preform may be pressurised while moist and is cured under pressure. The fibres may comprise carbon fibres; recycled carbon fibre has been found to be particularly useful. The resulting preform may be stochastic and is suitable for use in ablative and braking applications.

The present invention relates to an inductive heating apparatus, particularly using a liquid deposition precursor, for densifying porous articles. The inductive heating apparatus using induction coils that are made from machined or milled flat metal plates, such as copper plate, instead of bending a member (especially a hollow member) into a coil shape. The induction coils according to the present invention can be more precisely and more consistently fabricated than conventional bending techniques.
