Different embodiments of the heat engine may have different configurations that may include a cathode, gate, suppressor, and anode arranged in different ways according to a particular embodiment. Different embodiments of the heat engine may also incorporate different materials in and/or proximate to the cathode, gate, suppressor, and anode.
Abstract:
A system for protecting data stored in a memory of a removable data storage device is provided. The system includes a personal electronic device, a removable solid state data storage device operatively coupled to the personal electronic device, and a circuit configured to protect data stored in a memory of the data storage device in response to detecting impending removal of the data storage device from the personal electronic device.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a garment system including a flexible compression garment, at least one sensor, and at least one therapeutic stimulation delivery device operable responsive to sensing feedback from the at least one sensor, effective to provide therapeutic radiation to a body part of a subject. Embodiments disclosed herein also relate to methods of using such garment systems.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein are directed to systems and methods of dispensing one or more medicaments to a subject. The systems and methods utilize at least one flexible compression garment having one or more medicament dispensers therein.
Abstract:
A food storage unit and method includes passively identifying a user of the food storage unit and logging one or more food acquisitions by the user. A container for use with the food storage unit includes means for determining an amount of food in the container and communicating this information to the food storage unit.
Abstract:
Systems and related methods for delivering a stimulus to a pinna of a subject with a stimulator worn on the pinna are described. A wearable stimulation device includes a mechanical, electrical, or other type of stimulator secured to a pinna of a subject. Stimulation may be delivered in response to a sensed signal indicative of a physiological status of the subject, and/or in response to sensed environmental parameters. Stimulation may be delivered in combination with other stimuli or experiences. In an aspect, a stimulator communicates with and/or is controlled by a personal computing device. In some aspects recommendations regarding stimuli and experience are provided via a computing system in communication with the personal computing device or the stimulator.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a garment system including at least one sensor, and at least one actuator that operates responsive to sensing feedback from the at least one sensor to selectively constrict or selectively dilate at least one flexible compression garment. Such selective constriction or dilation of the at least one flexible compression garment against at least one body part can improve muscle functioning or joint functioning during an activity, such as a sport or other activity.
Abstract:
Embodiments disclosed herein relate to a garment system including at least one muscle or at least one joint activity sensor, and at least one actuator that operates responsive to sensing feedback from the at least one muscle or the at least one joint activity sensor to cause a flexible compression garment to selectively compress against or selectively relieve compression against at least one body part of a subject. Embodiments disclosed herein also relate to methods of using such garment systems.
Abstract:
Described embodiments include a system and method. A digital imaging device is configured to capture images of a region of a contact between a wheel of a terrestrial vehicle and a surface ("contact region"). A correlator is configured to correlate a first digital image of the contact region captured at a first time with a second digital image of the contact region captured at a second time. A kinematics circuit determines an incremental slide or slip of the wheel relative to the surface. A traction status circuit combines at least two instances of the incremental slide or slip into data indicative of a slide or slip by the terrestrial vehicle relative to the surface. A communications circuit outputs an electronic signal indicative of the data indicative of a slide or slip by the terrestrial vehicle.
