Nutrient clusters for food products such as for addition to Ready-To-Eat cereals by providing, in a preferred form of the present invention, nutrient products such in the form of aggregates or clusters comprising a first particulate component; a nutrient powder blend, and sufficient binder to adhere the powder to the particulates. The nutrient clusters are in the form of pieces each weighing from about 0.3 to 5g. and having a moisture content of about 2 % to 10 %. Disclosed are methods of preparing such nutrient clusters involving applying a liquid binder to the particulates to form sticky particulates, adding a powdered nutrient blend and curing the mixtures to form hardened dried nutrient clusters. The nutrient cluster can contain 100 % US recommended daily allowance ("USRDA") of essential vitamins and minerals and can contain added macronutrients such as soy proteins, soluble fiber, and/or calcium in nutritionally dense form in as little as 5 to 15 g of nutrient clusters. The clusters find particular suitability for use in providing to-order customized cereal products in response to particular customer requirements for nutrition.

Es wird ein diätetisches Lebensmittel zum Fettabbau beschrieben, bei dessen Gebrauch während der Diätzeit das Hungergefühl gezügelt wird. Dies wird dadurch erreicht, dass das diätetische Mittel MCT enthält. Die unter der Bezeichnung MCT ("medium-chain triglycerides") bekannte Verbindungsklasse umfasst Triglyceride von Fettsäuren mittlerer Kettenlänge, wobei unter Fettsäuren mittlerer Kettenlänge insbesondere C8-C12-Fettsäuren verstanden werden. MCT ist an sich bekannt, z.B. als Delios V und Delios C. Es hat eine ölartige Konsistenz. Neu ist die Anwendung dieser Substanz als diätetisches Lebensmittel zur Fettstoffwechselregulierung, ergänzt durch L-Carnitin, speziell in der Form L-Carnitin-tartrat, das als Transportprotein dient, um langkettige Fette aus den Körperspeichern in die Mitochondrien zur Verbrennung zu bringen, wodurch L-Carnitin für einen schnelleren Fettabbau mithelfen kann, und Coenzym Q10, das lipophil ist und an den Reaktionen der Fettsäuren im Bereich der energieliefernden Zellreaktionen beteiligt ist, und eventuell noch ergänzt durch Omega3-Fettsäuren. In dieser Eigenschaft kann es während einer vermehrten Fettverbrennung diese noch beschleunigen.

It also relates to a method of supplementing the dietary needs of women whereby an effective amount of a life stage appropriate dietary supplement is administered to a woman at each of her life stages throughout her life. The present also relates to dietary supplements for supplementing the specific phytochemical dietary needs of perimenopausal and menopausal women which contain low doses of phytoestrogens, and a method for such dietary supplementation.

A method of preparing nutritionally fortified yeast comprising: a) incubating yeast with at least one fermentable substrate under conditions suitable for achieving fermentation; b) isolating the yeast after fermentation; c) combining the isolated yeast with at least one micronutrient selected from vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants to obtain nutritionally fortified yeast; and d) drying the nutritionally fortified yeast. The method allows high levels of micronutrient retention by the yeast such that the nutritionally fortified yeast obtained by the method is a useful vehicle for supplementing foods with micronutrients.

The present disclosure relates to a lipid source for nutritional compositions, comprising an enriched lipid fraction which comprises structured fat globules. The enriched lipid fraction provides fat globules having a desired size and fatty acid composition and may be stabilized by components such as phospholipids, cholesterol, milk-fat globule membrane protein and combinations thereof. Additionally, the disclosure relates to methods of supporting lipid digestion in a pediatric subject by providing a nutritional composition comprising an enriched lipid fraction having structured fat globules that are more accessible to lipases. The chemical composition, size and structure of the fat globules may improve digestion. The disclosed nutritional compositions may provide additive and or/synergistic beneficial health effects.

The inventions discloses a trace element solution, which comprises at least the following metals: zinc; manganese; selenium; and copper; and which comprises a concentration of the metals of at least 90 mg/ml. The solution may comprise the following concentrations: at least 60 mg/ml zinc; at least 10 mg/ml manganese; at least 5 mg/ml selenium; and at least 15 mg/ml copper. The solution may comprise chromium, iodine and chromium.
