    摘要: In a ceramic tool and associated method of making it, a ceramic base is infused with a material. The material is preferably a metal based compound advantageously chrome oxide. The chemical formulation of the material can be modified in order to optimize the rate of material deposition and the desired surface performance. The depth of the infusion is advantageously 0.1 to 1mm preferably 0.25mm. The moulding surface of the tool may be treated to vapour or oat blasting. The resultant tool has a longer life and may be used without a release agent.

    摘要: A retention system (10) comprises at least one elongate channel member (12) and at least one clip (14). The channel member defines an internal channel (22) and has a longitudinal slot (24) providing access to the channel. Each clip has an engagement portion (28, Fig. 3) for location in the channel and an external attachment portion (30, Fig.3) connected to the engagement portion by a neck which passes through the slot. The engagement portion is shaped such that in one angular orientation it is able to pass through the longitudinal slot and such that once inserted it can be moved to another angular orientation in which it is unable to pass through the longitudinal slot. At least part of the clip (14) which contacts the channel member (12) once inserted comprises a friction material (34) adapted so that contact between the material and the channel member resists longitudinal movement of the clip along the channel member. The retention system (10) is particularly adapted for use as a luggage retention system for the luggage compartment of a vehicle.

    摘要: A braking system (100) for a vehicle comprises: a regenerative braking system (110) and a friction braking system (120). The friction braking system (120) comprises one or more traditional friction brakes (121), which are operable to deccelerate the vehicle in a conventional manner and further comprises a cooling device (122) operable to cool the one or more friction brakes (121). The cooling device (122) comprises one or more blowers (123) and a means (124) for directing air produced by said blowers (123) towards the friction brakes (121). The regenerative braking system (110) comprises an electric motor (111) that is configurable to operate as an electric generator. The electric motor (111) is connected to one or more of the vehicle's road wheels and is operable to deccelerate the vehicle by using one or more of said wheels to drive electric motor (111) to generate electric energy. By doing this, the regenerative braking system (101) is operable to recover energy when braking the vehicle. The regenerative braking system (110) is operable to direct at least part of the recovered energy to the cooling device (122) and/or the battery (112). When the regenerative braking system (110) is utilised, it preferentially directs the recovered energy to battery (112). When the battery (112) is at substantially full capacity, the regenerative braking system (110) directs the recovered energy to the cooling device (122). When the friction braking system (120) is utilised, the cooling device (122) is actuated and directs air at the friction brakes (121).

    摘要: A holder for a vessel such as a glass particularly for use in a vehicle such as a motor car comprises a housing (1 ) having a base (2) and cylindrical wall (3). The wall (3) defines three slots (4) spaced at 120° angles with respect to the axis of the cylinder. Three cams (6) are respectively pivotally connected to projections (5) extending from the wall (3) adjacent respective slots (4). Three further spaced projections (7) extend from the wall (3) and slots (4) are formed on the cams (6) and projections (7) between which elastic bands or springs (10) extend. On introducing a glass into the holder, the cam first resists further progress of the glass into the holder. On pushing the glass down the cams (6) pivot moving from a position in which they resist movement to a position in which they assist movement until the base of the glass is held firmly by the cams (6) against the base (2) of the holder to hold the glass firmly in position. Removal of the glass is the reversal of the insertion operation.
