A composition of matter is disclosed wherein the composition comprises an N-aromatic substituted acid amide compound selected from the group consisting of compounds of formula (I) wherein A and B are independently selected alkylene groups; R1 is selected form the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, alkylether, or ester; R2 is hydrogen if R1 is hydrogen; R2 is an alkyl primary amine if R1 is alkyl, alkylether, or ester; R3 and R4 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl; R5 is a sterically hindered phenolic group of formula (II) or formula (III) wherein X is CH2, S, NH, or O; and m, n, and p are independently selected integers equal to 0 or 1. These compositions may be used as such or they may be bound to a polymer backbone via a linking moiety. In either case, they are useful as antioxidants, particularly in lubricating oil compositions.

The invention concerns a method for improving the stability of at least a 1,3,5-triazine derivative to UV radiation in the absence of any dibenzoylmethane derivative. The present invention relates to additive composition for control and inhibition of polymerization of monomers including styrene, wherein the composition consists of: (a) one or more of quinone methide derivatives; and CHARACTERIZED IN THAT the composition further comprises: (b) one or more of tertiary amines, wherein said tertiary amine is selected from a group consisting of: (i) tri isopropanol amine (TIPA), (ii) Ν,Ν,Ν',Ν'-Tetrakis (2-hydroxyethyl) ethylene-diamine) (THEED), and (iii) mixture thereof. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to method of preparation thereof and uses thereof, and a method for controlling and inhibiting polymerization of monomers including styrene.
