摘要: A photodiode (200), for instance a PN or a PIN photodiode, is disclosed. The photodiode receives incident radiation having first and second spectral distributions, where the first spectral distribution is spectrally shifted from the second spectral distribution. The photodiode has a first semiconductor layer (211) capable of absorbing incident radiation (231) having a first spectral distribution without generating a photocurrent, while simultaneously transmitting incident radiation having a second spectral distribution to the intrinsic layer (212) for generating a photocurrent (213). The photodiode may be used in connection with detecting the presence of target molecules that has been labeled with labeling agents, such as fluorophores or quantum dots. The labeling agents are characterized by the Stokes shift and, therefore, they emit fluorescent radiation having the second spectral distribution that is spectrally shifted from the illumination radiation having the first spectral distribution.

摘要: An integrated device for detecting emissions from a sample (70) involves forming an array of photo detectors (20) for detecting the emissions and forming an array of sites for receiving the sample such that edges of the sites are defined by edges of the photo detectors. A side wall of a site using a diode can provide a side wall suitable for ink-jet printing samples such as biomolecules with no extra mask steps. This helps enable the sample and the photo detector to be mutually aligned more easily or more cost effectively than conventional devices where the site for receiving the sample is formed separately from the photo detector. The detection can be in any direction, such as lateral or vertical detection. Lateral optical detection with a shielded photodiode means only light emanating from one pixel/spot is detected. A light source (200) to stimulate emissions can be integrated.

摘要: According to an aspect of the present invention, a device for fragmenting molecules in a sample by ultrasound is provided. The device comprises a planar-shaped cartridge and a fragmentation instrument that has a vessel-like shape. By means of applying under-pressure in the fragmentation instrument the cartridge is pulled towards the fragmentation instrument and therefore spatially closes a fluid compartment that is comprised by the fragmentation instrument. Afterwards, an ultrasound treatment of the sample, which is comprised in a sample compartment of the cartridge, may be processed. A sealing layer is provided in between the cartridge and the fragmentation instrument in order to hold the fixation of the cartridge tightly and in order to provide for leakage prevention out of the fluid compartment.

摘要: A device for transporting magnetic or magnetizable beads over a transport surface includes a chamber holding magnetic or magnetizable beads in a fluid, a transport element including the transport surface within the chamber, and a current wire structure including at least two sets of meandering current wires arranged on a side of the transport element opposite to the transport surface. The at least two sets are displaced with respect to each other in at least two directions. A switching unit switches currents individually applied to the sets of current wires according to a current driving scheme resulting in a transport of the beads over the transport surface.
