At least one acceleration sensor is arranged on the undercarriage of the rail vehicle in such a manner that its direction of detection has at least one component parallel to the vertical axis (z-direction) of the rail vehicle. The invention proposes that the acceleration sensor is constructed in such a manner that it delivers a measuring signal which contains the signal portion corresponding to a ground acceleration, or represents a signal corresponding to a ground acceleration, and that the evaluation unit has a routine for testing functions of the acceleration sensor, the routine controlling an error signal if the measuring signal delivered by the acceleration sensor contains no signal portion corresponding to a ground acceleration. The routine also suppresses the error signal if this is not the case.

The object of the invention, to find a novel possibility for checking optical diffraction structures on documents which permits detection of the presence and authenticity of optical diffraction structures quickly and economically with respect to apparatus, is met according to the invention in that the sensor unit is arranged orthogonally above the support surface of the document, and in that the illumination unit contains at least two monochromatic light sources which are arranged so as to emit light bundles at defined incident angles with respect to a surface normal of the document directed to the diffraction structure and which can be switched on sequentially. At least one light source has an incident angle that corresponds in direction and degree to a diffraction angle at which an intensity maximum of the diffraction pattern that is generated in a structure-specific manner would occur if the diffraction structure were illuminated from the direction of the sensor unit.

The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for image recording for data detection and security checking of documents, in particular for automated checking of the authenticity of documents in which hidden information for high-security checking is incorporated. It is the object of the invention to find a novel possibility for image recording for data detection and for checking the authenticity of documents which permits an automated detection of the presence of hidden information and high-resolution recording of hidden information for high-security checking in the shortest possible time and at the lowest cost in apparatus. This object is met according to the invention in that a total image of a document is recorded with relatively low image resolution in order to determine the document type, to associate stored security features with the document type, and in the event that the document type has a defined security feature whose evaluation requires a considerably higher image resolution, to switch the image recording unit to a limited higher-resolution image recording of a region of interest of the document, to record a high-resolution partial image, and to compare with the data of a database for checking authenticity.
