Abstract:
Provided herein are aqueous dispersions. The aqueous dispersions can comprise a first copolymer derived from one or more ethylenically unsaturated monomers, and a second carboxy-functional copolymer derived from one or more carboxylic acid-containing monomers. The aqueous dispersions can be used to prepare low- or zero-VOC aqueous coating compositions that possess desirable properties, including good block resistance and scrub resistance. Coatings and coating formulations comprising the aqueous dispersion, as well as methods of making and using the same are also provided.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an aqueous composition for surface coating, including: a main ingredient comprising a first compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, an amino group and combinations thereof, per molecule; a curing agent comprising a second compound having at least two functional groups selected from the group consisting of an aziridine group, an isocyanate group, a carbodiimide group and combinations thereof, per molecule; and an aqueous solvent. Further, an automotive sheet using the aqueous composition for surface coating is disclosed.
Abstract:
There is provided a cured-film formation composition that forms a cured film having excellent photoreaction efficiency and solvent resistance, and high adhesion, an orientation material for photo-alignment, and a retardation material formed with the orientation material. The cured-film formation composition comprises a component (A) that is a compound having a photo-aligning group and one substituent selected from a hydroxy group, a carboxy group, anvil an amino group, a component (B) that is a hydrophilic polymer having one or more substituents selected from to hydroxy group, a carboxy group, and an amino group; and a component (C) that is cross-linking agent that reacts with the component (A) and the component (B) and reacts at a temperature lower than a sublimation temperature of the component (A), wherein when the component (B) is an acrylic polymer, the cured-film formation composition further comprises a component (E) that is an adhesion enhancing component. The cross-linking agent of the component (C) may be more hydrophilic than the component (A). The orientation material is thrilled by thrilling a cured film with the cured-film formation composition and utilizing photo-alignment technique. The retardation material is obtained by applying a polymerizable liquid crystal on the orientation material and curing it.

Coating composition especially for preparing automotive surfacers, comprising an anionically stabilized resin, preferably a condensation product A of a carboxyl group-containing resin A1 and a hydroxyl group-containing resin A2, and a curing agent C, which becomes active even at room temperature or slightly elevated temperature of up to not more than 120° C., and comprises a mixture of an unblocked isocyanate C1 and a hydrophilic partially etherified amino resin C2.
Abstract:
A paint composition comprising a powder paint uniformly dispersed in an aqueous solution of a water soluble carboxylated resin. Use is made of a powder paint having a mean particle size of 1-100 microns and preferably comprising a thermosetting resin as the vehicle. This paint composition contains no surfactant but, nevertheless, features high stability of the dispersion phase and can provide paint films of excellent resistance to water. This paint composition may utilize recovered waste powder paint, i.e. a mixture of differently colored powder paints, preferably with the addition of a black pigment such as carbon black.
