In order that spaces, including a space in the central portion, inside a steel cord used as a reinforcement by being embedded in a tire or the like are filled with an uncured rubber, the uncured rubber is coated on plural steel core filaments which are then stranded to form a single layer steel cord, the core then being stranded with uncoated outer layer filaments. Consequently, it is possible to exhibit satisfactory corrosion resistance and satisfactory fatigue resistance as a steel cord, shorten a curing time in tire component assembling or the like to attain energy saving and prolong the life of a steel cord itself and the life of a tire or the like using the same as a reinforcement. Further, production can be performed at low cost.

A rubber-steel cord composite is provided having nonlinear physical properties even in a rubber characterized by incompressive properties after vulcanization, and hence the rubber-steel cord composite can show low rigidity and flexible properties in a low-strain region and, on the other hand, can show high rigidity in a high-strain region. The rubber-steel cord composite is provided by bundling steel linear objects 1 subjected to spiral shape forming at substantially identical pitches in an approximately identical phase without twisting, the steel cord being embedded in rubber.

A pneumatic tire comprises a cord-reinforced layer such as carcass, belt, bead reinforcing layer which is made of metallic cords, each metallic cord is made up of six to twelve metallic filaments whose diameter is in a range of from 0.15 to 0.45 mm, the metallic filaments include waved filaments and unwaved filaments, each waved filament is two-dimensionally waved at a wave pitch and wave height before twisted, the wave pitch is in a range of from 5.0 to 35.0 times the diameter of the filament, and the wave height is in a range of from 0.2 to 4.0 times the diameter of the filament, and the metallic filaments are twisted together into the cord at a twist pitch of from 10 to 40 mm so that the two-dimensionally waved filaments are each subjected to a certain rotation around its axial.
Abstract:
A tire reinforcing steel cord (1, 10) is provided which has a 1nulln structure formed by twisting together four to seven individual wires having a wire diameter of 0.20 to 0.45 mm, the steel cord being wound a plurality of times in the vicinity of opposite side edges of a belt section of a tire, wherein the steel cord has a substantially spiral or a substantially planar wavy deformation, has an elongation of 1.2% to 2.0% when applying a tensile load of 50 N in a tensile test according to JIS B 7721, and becomes substantially linear with its wavy deformation disappearing under a tensile load in the range of 50 to 250 N. When the steel cord is embedded in a tire as a zero degree belt cord, it stretches to a moderate extent so as to track the expansion of the tire in the radial direction during the vulcanization process in the molding of the tire, and since the steel cord has low stretch after the tire has been molded, it is possible to restrain expansion of the tire in the radial direction during continued high speed rotation of the tire.
Abstract:
Manufacturing narrow-diameter hollow metal objects utilizing metals difficult to work plastically has been problematic with conventional manufacturing methods; the narrower the diameter the higher the manufacturing cost has been, and under some circumstances manufacturing has been impossible. A plurality of metal wires is worked into a twisted wire cluster, adjoining companion metal wires are brought into contact in planar contacting portions, and the cluster is made unitary by supplying an adhesive means along the outer side, producing a hollow metal object possessing a uniform inner diameter and a clean inner surface.
