摘要: Systems and methods for calibration of retinal prosthetics in accordance with embodiments of the invention are illustrated. A closed loop calibration process is described whereby a multi-electrode stimulation regime can be calibrated to a given user's retina. Multi-electrode stimulation can provide increased stimulation selectivity, but significantly increases complexity. Systems and methods described herein provide computational steps that significantly reduce the amount of trials and computation required in order to achieve clinically viable selectivity, making closed-loop calibration of retinal prosthetics possible in significantly less time than open-loop calibration.

摘要: Electrical modulation provides treatment of brain tumors, such as glioblastoma. An electrical stimulus may be applied to the brain of a patient with a brain tumor (e.g., primary or metastatic brain tumor in upfront, adjuvant, or recurrent treatment setting) via bitemporal and/or unitemporal electrodes. The electrical modulation acts on brain tumor networks to slow tumor growth and increase survivability of the patient. The electrical modulation also transiently permits passage of therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier. The electrical modulation also sensitizes brain tumors to radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy.

摘要: A volume filling device for treatment of obesity is placed outside the stomach wall of the patient to reduce the inner volume of the stomach, thereby affecting the patient's appetite. By providing the volume filling device outside the stomach wall, contact with stomach acids is avoided, thereby increasing the life of the device.

摘要: An Implantable Pulse Generator (IPG) is disclosed that is capable of sensing a degree to which recruited neurons in a patient's tissue are firing synchronously, and of modifying a stimulation program to promote desynchronicity and to reduce paresthesia. An evoked compound action potential (ECAP) of the recruited neurons is sensed as a measure of synchronicity by at least one non-active electrode. An ECAP algorithm operable in the IPG assesses the shape of the ECAP and determines one or more ECAP shape parameters that indicate whether the recruited neurons are firing synchronously or desynchronously. If the shape parameters indicate significant synchronicity, the ECAP algorithm can adjust the stimulation program to promote desynchronous firing.

摘要: Systems for applying electrical stimulation to a nerve and determining a change in measured impedance or sensed electrical fields that is indicative of an electrical event, are disclosed herein. The system comprises an implantable housing comprising a signal generator, an implantable neural interface, an impedance measuring circuit or an electrical field sensing circuit, and processing circuitry. Methods for determining the presence of an electrical event in a system for applying electrical stimulation to a nerve, are also disclosed herein. The method comprises periodically sensing an impedance in an electrical pathway and determining an electrical event in the electrical pathway by identifying a change in the sensed impedance.

摘要: A beauty instrument according to the present disclosure comprises a skin electrode disposed in a head, a grip electrode disposed in a grip, a voltage application circuit for applying a voltage between the skin electrode and the grip electrode to cause a current to flow between the skin electrode and the grip electrode through a human body, and a controller that controls the voltage application circuit. The controller comprises a touch detector that detects touch of a skin surface of the human body with the skin electrode. Before the touch detector detects the touch, the voltage application circuit is controlled to apply a first voltage having a relatively high frequency, and after the touch detector detects the touch, the voltage application circuit is controlled to apply a second voltage having a relatively low frequency.
