Abstract:
A system and method can support subnet management in a network environment, such as an engineered system for middleware and application execution or a middleware machine environment. The system can associate a subnet administrator (SA) in a subnet with one or more SA proxies. Furthermore, said one or more SA proxies can receive one or more requests from one or more client nodes. Then, said SA can handle said one or more requests, which are forwarded from said one or more SA proxies. Additionally, a dedicated queue pair (QP) number can be allocated for each client node, so that there is no need for always sending an initial request to a pre-defined well-known QP number.
Abstract:
A system and method can support multiple domains in an InfiniBand (IB) fabric. The IB fabric can include one or more subnets, wherein each said subnet contains one or more switch nodes. Additionally, at least one said subnet can be divided into one or more sub-subnets, wherein each said sub-subnet is managed by a separate sub-subnet manager that is associated with a unique management key, and wherein said one or more sub-subnets are connected by one or more sub-subnet gateway switch nodes, wherein each sub-subnet gateway switch node belongs to one sub-subnet.
Abstract:
System and method for supporting scalable bitmap based P_Key table in a high performance computing environment. A method can provide, at least one subnet comprising one or more switches, a plurality of host channel adapters, and a plurality of end nodes. The method can associate the plurality of end nodes with at least one of a plurality of partitions, wherein each of the plurality of partitions are associated with a P_Key value. The method can associate each of the one or more switches with a bitmap based P_Key table of a plurality of bitmap based P_Key tables. The method can associate each of the host channel adapters with a bitmap based P_Key table of the plurality of bitmap based P_Key tables.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for supporting dual-port virtual router in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a dual port router abstraction can provide a simple way for enabling subnet-to-subnet router functionality to be defined based on a switch hardware implementation. A virtual dual-port router can logically be connected outside a corresponding switch port. This virtual dual-port router can provide an InfiniBand specification compliant view to a standard management entity, such as a Subnet Manager. In accordance with an embodiment, a dual-ported router model implies that different subnets can be connected in a way where each subnet fully controls the forwarding of packets as well as address mappings in the ingress path to the subnet.
Abstract:
System and method for correlating fabric-level group membership with subnet-level partition membership in a high performance computing environment. An exemplary embodiment can provide an admin partition in a subnet of a network environment, associated with a resource domain at the fabric level of the network environment. The admin partition can be defined by a P_Key that is stored in a fabric-level database. Each fabric resource is identified by an identifier that is stored in the fabric-level database. When fabric resources are added as members to the resource domain, a relationship is created between the P_Key and the identifier of the fabric resource, where the relationship defines the resource as a member of the admin partition. Access rights can be granted based on the relationship.

Abstract:
Systems and methods for path record handling in a fabric without host stack cooperation in a high performance computing environment. In a case where the subnet manager has determined “homogenous subnet/fabric” or “semi-homogenous subnet/fabric” status for the current topology, but is still receiving path queries, the subnet manager can use the relevant status to avoid any route evaluation and generate path record either only based on the configuration status of the requesting port in the homogenous case, or by comparing the configuration status of both ports in the semi-homogenous case.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for providing multicast group (MCG) membership relative to partition membership in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, by allowing a subnet manager of a local subnet to be instructed that all ports that are members of the relevant partition should be set up as members for a specific multicast group, the SM can perform a more efficient multicast-routing process. It is also possible to limit the IB client interaction with subnet administration conventionally required to handle join and leave operations. Additionally, subnet manager overhead can be reduced by creating a spanning tree for the routing of multicast packets that includes each of the partition members added to the multicast group, instead of creating a spanning tree after each multicast group join request is received, as conventionally required.
Abstract:
System and method for supporting scalable representation of switch port status in a high performance computing environment. In accordance with an embodiment, a scalable representation of switch port status can be provided. By adding a scalable representation of switch port status at each switch (both physical and virtual)—instead of getting all switch port changes individually, the scalable representation of switch port status can combine a number of ports that can scale by just using a few bits of information for each port's status.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for host-side configuration of a host channel adapter (HCA). An exemplary embodiment can provide a HCA, including a control circuit with a processor and a memory, and at least one port operative to connect the HCA to a network fabric. Additionally, the HCA can include a subnet management agent (SMA) that executes on the HCA, and a software driver for the HCA that includes a control application programming interface (API) that exposes functionality to hyper-privileged software executing on a host. The hyper-privileged software can set, through the control API, configurable variables stored in the memory of the HCA. Based on the value of the set variables, the HCA can operate in one of a legacy mode or one or more other modes.
