Abstract: Some embodiments provide a novel method for deploying different virtual networks over several public cloud datacenters for different entities. For each entity, the method (1) identifies a set of public cloud datacenters of one or more public cloud providers to connect a set of machines of the entity, (2) deploys managed forwarding nodes (MFNs) for the entity in the identified set of public cloud datacenters, and then (3) configures the MFNs to implement a virtual network that connects the entity's set of machines across its identified set of public cloud datacenters. In some embodiments, the method identifies the set of public cloud datacenters for an entity by receiving input from the entity's network administrator. In some embodiments, this input specifies the public cloud providers to use and/or the public cloud regions in which the virtual network should be defined. Conjunctively, or alternatively, this input in some embodiments specifies actual public cloud datacenters to use.

Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a system, which provides service switching in a datacenter environment. The system can include a service switching gateway, which can identify a service tag associated with a received packet. During operation, the service switching gateway determines a source client, a requested service, or both for the packet based on the service tag, identifies a corresponding service portal based on the service tag, and forwards the packet toward the service portal. The service switching gateway can optionally maintain a mapping between the service tag and one or more of: a source client, a required service, the service portal, and a tunnel encapsulation. The service switching gateway can encapsulate the packet based on an encapsulation mechanism supported by the service portal and forward the packet based on the mapping.

Abstract: A service process control method includes selecting, according to an execution policy of at least one service deployed on a network device, M data processors for processing a packet received by the network device, determining a processing sequence for the selected M data processors to process the packet, and invoking the selected M data processors to sequentially process, according to the processing sequence, the packet. An execution sequence for a data processor to process the packet is dynamically generated according to a policy set corresponding to the service.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a method that receives a request for information regarding a path between endpoints of a logical network. The method provides, for display, a visualization of the path including (i) a set of logical network components between the endpoints and (ii) a set of physical network components that implement the logical network components. The physical network components and the logical network components are aligned in the display. In some embodiments, the method receives data regarding a packet tracing operation between the endpoints. The method generates a display including (i) a visualization of the path between the endpoints of the logical network and (ii) a representation of the received data regarding the packet tracing operation, with the packet tracing operation data is visually linked to the components of the path.

Abstract: Aspects include balancing work of tasks at a sending node of a transaction server in a network. A method can include processing a task from the top of a work queue at the sending node, where the task is an instance of a transaction which requires a transaction message to be sent from the sending node using a network connection. The transaction message is divided into chunks of partial transaction sub-messages. For each chunk, it can be dynamically determined whether a pacing response indicator is required based on metrics that monitor the activity in the work queue and a number of chunks of the transaction message already sent.

Abstract: The present invention proposes a method and network element which allows improving, in different aspects, existing user authentication mechanisms in a communications network (for example, the 802.1x network), using a single network element. To that end, the element managing communications network access (for example, a router) will have a new physical and logical architecture (with various databases and verification and learning mechanisms) expanding the ability of said element, such that said element incorporates an authentication system to manage and provide the mechanisms needed for protecting communications, offering protection, management and automation abilities much greater than the systems existing today.
