    摘要: The suspension system of the present invention includes an elongated spring having one end attached to the vehicle frame and having a second end. A pneumatic bag includes an upper end which is attached to the vehicle frame and a lower end. A securing bracket attaches the lower end of the bag and the second end of the elongated spring to the axle so that the weight of the vehicle frame above the axle is supported in combination by the spring and the air bag. A pneumatic control system is in communication with the bag for selectively introducing air to the bag so as to control the pressure within the bag and thereby control the height that the bag supports the vehicle frame above the axle. A stabilizer bar is pivotally connected at one end of the vehicle frame and at the other end to the axle so as to cause the vehicle frame to be centered over the axle while at the same time permitting the vehicle frame to move vertically with respect to the axle. The control means includes both manual controls and automatic photo-electric sensors for controlling the height of the frame above the axle.

    摘要: A system for enabling modification and adjustment of an automobile torsion bar suspension assembly housed in a tubular beam housing includes a plurality of torsion spring stiffener members, each comprising a tubular member dimensioned to be slidably received about the torsion leaf spring assembly within the beam housing. The tubular member includes opposed end portions provided with an inner peripheral surface formed complementary to the outer surface conformation of the leaves of the torsion bar assembly and adapted to engage the leaves assembly in nonrotating fashion. The stiffener member acts to rotationally immobilize a segment of the length of the torsion leaf assembly, thereby increasing the stiffness of the torsion spring. The invention also includes a socket tool having a recess in one end formed in complementary fashion to the outer surface conformation of the torsion leaf assembly and adapted to be engaged thereon. The other end of the socket tool is provided with a receptacle adapted to receive a standard drive lug of a torque wrench. A partial circumferential slot is provided in the beam housing adjacent to the internal block, and a pair of toothed locking plates are welded to the beam housing adjacent to the slot. A mounting screw secured to the internal block extends through the slot, and a top plate is secured to the screw. The top plate includes complementary teeth to enable rigid mounting of the internal block and torsion leaf assembly at variable angles with respect to the beam housing, thus selectively setting the height of the auto suspension.

The diagnostic mechanism responsive to such fault warning signal is operatively connected with the adjustment mechanism for determining the extent which the ability to adjust the suspension units has been impaired and a mode selection mechanism operatively connected with the diagnostic mechanism for deciding into which of the multiple operating modes the suspension units should be directed based upon the determination of the diagnostic mechanism, with the mode selection mechanism further including a mechanism for generating an adjustment control signal corresponding to the operating modes and for communicating such signal to the adjustment mechanism.
