Abstract:
In lane keep control apparatus and method for an automotive vehicle, such a determination is made as to whether a tendency of a divergence of the vehicle from a traffic lane on which the vehicle is traveling occurs according to a detected travel state of the vehicle, a driving force controlled variable for each road wheel to develop a yaw moment in a direction in which the divergence of the vehicle from the traffic lane is avoided is calculated in accordance with the detected travel state, the driving force controlled variable of each road wheel is corrected in such a manner that the yaw moment developed in a direction in which the divergence of the vehicle from the traffic lane is avoided is increased in accordance with a history of a control executed to avoid the divergence of the vehicle from the traffic lane.
Abstract:
A system for steering a vehicle including: an actuator disposed in a vehicle to apply torque to a steerable wheel; a driver input device receptive to driver commands for directing the vehicle; and a sensor for determining an intent of a driver and generating a signal indicative thereof. The system also includes: a lane keeping system for detecting a location of the vehicle relative to a lane marker and generating a lane position signal indicative thereof; a controller in operable communication with the actuator, the driver input device, the first sensor, and the lane keeping system. The controller provides a command to the actuator responsive to the intent of the driver, the lane position, and a desired lane position. The controller executes a lane keeping algorithm consisting of a single control loop based on at least one of the lane position and the lane position deviation.
Abstract:
A warning system for an automotive vehicle produces a vibration in the vehicle simulating a rumble strip to inform a driver of various events. A vibration with braking torque is produced by controlling individually brake fluid pressure in each wheel brake cylinder, independently of manual braking operations. The warning system is applied to a lane deviation prevention (LDP) system. The LDP system provides a warning with vibration and a control effort of yawing moment by wheel torque or steering torque.
Abstract:
An automatic turn signal deactivation system monitors and deactivates a turn signal indicator for a vehicle. A lane departure warning device compares a vehicle position with an originating roadway lane and provides a monitoring signal to a communication bus. A turn signal module activates the turn signal indicator under manual control and automatically deactivates the turn signal indicator in response to the monitoring signal when the monitoring signal received from the lane departure warning device over the communication bus indicates that a lane change maneuver is complete.
Abstract:
A vehicle warning system includes a vehicle having first and second outer zones and a passenger compartment. A first active safety system monitors the first outer zone and generates first warning signals. A second active safety system monitors the second outer zone and generates second warning signals. A vehicle audio output device includes a plurality of speakers that are located in the vehicle passenger compartment. The first warning signals are output to a one or more of said speakers of the vehicle audio output device at a first frequency. The second warning signals are output one or more of said speakers of the vehicle output audio device at a second frequency.
Abstract:
A warning apparatus for a vehicle determines a contact possibility of the vehicle contacting with an object that is present in front of the vehicle according to a relative distance between the vehicle and the front object, a relative speed between the vehicle and the front object, and the like, and provides a contact possibility warning by changing at least one of the driving torque and braking torque of the vehicle according to the contact possibility. The warning apparatus detects, an intention of the driver of the vehicle to bring the vehicle closer to the front object in a steady driving state of the vehicle by, for example, changing a lane of the vehicle. The warning apparatus calculates a correction value to change the driving torque or braking torque according to a result of the detection, delays the timing of providing the contact possibility warning, and controls braking force.
Abstract:
A vehicle control device incorporating an electric power steering is provided, wherein an extraordinary yaw motion acting on a vehicle is detected and is suppressed or moderated, so that the stability of the vehicle in a straight-ahead steering is improved. The causes of the extraordinary yaw motion are one of lateral wind, asymmetrical surface state of the road, lateral slant of the road and the like. A countermeasure against the extraordinary yaw motion is taken by applying a counter (opposite direction) yaw motion on the vehicle or switching over the control mode from a proportional control to a proportional integral control.
Abstract:
A system and method assists the driver of a motor vehicle in preventing accidents or minimizing the effects of same. In one form, a television camera is mounted on a vehicle and scans the roadway ahead of the vehicle as the vehicle travels. Continuously generated video picture signals output by the camera are electronically processed and analyzed by an image analyzing computer, which generates codes that serve to identify obstacles. A decision computer mounted in the controlled vehicle receives such code signals along with code signals generated by the speedometer or one or more sensors sensing steering mechanism operation and generates control signals. Such code signals may be displayed, and a synthetic speech or special sound generating and warning means used, to warn the driver of the vehicle of approaching and existing hazards. The system may also use the control signals, particularly through application of fuzzy logic, to control the operation of the brakes and steering mechanism of the vehicle to avoid or lessen the effects of a collision. In a particular form, the decision computer may select the evasive action taken from a number of choices, depending on whether and where the detection device senses other vehicles or obstacles.
Abstract:
A method for the display of information in a motor vehicle, in which a segment of an image from a camera is displayed on a display unit and the image segment contains a road sign after analysis by a control and analysis unit.
Abstract:
A vehicle traveling control system is comprised of a following controller and a lane-keeping controller. The following controller controls an inter-vehicle distance between a host vehicle and a following object ahead of the host vehicle by controlling a vehicle speed on the basis of a detected inter-vehicle distance. The lane-keeping controller controls a steering control of the host vehicle so as to locate the host vehicle within a lane traveled by the host vehicle. A control condition of one of the following control and the steering control is changed according to the control condition of the other of the following control and the steering control.
