Abstract: A method for detecting a source of interference creates a sorting table according to distances between station devices and an access point (AP) device, and the created sorting table is sent to the AP device. The AP device determines upon a target device from the sorting table and controls the target device to acquire status and distance information between target device and AP device and send the information to the AP device. A value ε is computed according to the information sent by the target device and the calculated value ε is compared with a preset value k. The source of an interference, which affects the signal sent by the AP device, is calculated based on the comparison, and the AP device applies appropriate de-noising to the signal according to the determined interference source.

Abstract: A social alarm system provides location detection within a dwelling. A personal radio trigger unit is carried by a client and transmits an alarm signal in response to a triggering event, such as by a manual alarm button or an automatic fall detection circuit. A client unit is operable to receive the alarm signal and initiate an alarm call to a remote monitoring center over a communications network. A plurality of radio receptor nodes monitor the wireless RF transmissions from the personal radio trigger to report respective received signal strength values. A location finder unit determines a location of the personal radio trigger, by using absolute error calculations and/or shape error calculations against previously recorded known locations in the dwelling.

Abstract: A system to assist in monitoring and improving services in hotels, motels and other lodging facilities. The system includes a plurality of fixed-location wireless devices that are situated throughout the facility and each service provider or asset to be monitored or tracked is provided with a cooperating mobile wireless device. The mobile devices may periodically transmit beacons that are received by the fixed location devices. The system may determine location based on evaluation of signal strength across a plurality of fixed devices. The system may include premapped calibration data on signal strength to assist in determining location. The location information may help to assess employee performance, to assist in improving performance and to provide improved services. The system may also interact with an application running on a hotel guest's electronic device to allow the system to track guest location. Guest location information can be used to provide improved guest services.

Abstract: A geo-fence capable device is disclosed that is capable of performing an accurate geo-fence operation while minimizing power consumption. The device includes sensors, Wi-Fi connectability and GNSS. Sensors intermittently detect whether the device is in motion. When determined to be in motion, Wi-Fi is used to acquire a wireless access point list and to compare the access point list to previously-stored access points in order to determine whether the device is still within a particular region. GNSS is used to confirm exit from a region and to intermittently monitor whether the device has entered a new region. GNSS and application processor use can be minimized by utilizing sensor and Wi-Fi functionality as preliminary region monitors.

The determination of whether the room is occupied is then sent to the computing device.
