摘要: A system for controlling the temperature of a reaction mixture comprises at least one heating device for heating the mixture and a power regulator for regulating the amount of power supplied to the heating device. A controller in communication with the power regulator includes program instructions for heating the reaction mixture by setting a variable target temperature that initially exceeds a desired setpoint temperature for the mixture. When the heating device reaches a threshold temperature, the variable target temperature is decreased to the desired setpoint temperature. In another embodiment, the controller includes an adaptive control program for dynamically adjusting the duration or intensity of power pulses provided to the heating device.

摘要: Thermally analysis of layers and multiple layer structures used in the semiconductor processing arts is disclosed. A modulated calorimetric analysis may be used to determine a thermal signature that characterizes the chemical properties of a sample of material. The signature may include one or more thermal properties such as heat capacities. The signature may be used to compare and infer the suitability of a material for use in an integrated circuit manufacturing process. A thermal signature for a material that is not known to be suitable for manufacturing integrated circuits may be compared with a thermal signature for a standard material that is known to be suitable in order to determine whether the aforementioned material is suitable. Multiple layer structures may also be analyzed, compared, and inferred, and approaches for determining thermal signatures for any individual layer of the multiple layer structure are disclosed.

摘要: A micro counter-current flame detector is provided that is both sensitive for photometric and ionization detection for gas chromatography (GC). In the detector, a stainless steel capillary (0.01″ i.d.) supplying oxygen functions as a burner, which supports a compact flame that burns in a counter-flowing excess of hydrogen. In the “micro Flame Photometric Detector” (μFPD) response mode, the background emission level is reduced by over an order of magnitude compared to previous experiments using a fused silica capillary burner, resulting in greatly improved detection limits. The device can successfully operate as both a selective and universal GC detector. Results indicate that this micro counter-current flame method yields comparable performance to conventional Flame Photometric and Flame Ionization Detectors.

摘要: The invention relates to a device for measuring quantities of heat while simultaneously measuring the evaporation kinetics and/or condensation kinetics of the most minute amounts of liquid in order to determine thermodynamic parameters. The aim of the invention is to determine low thermal outputs, which are absorbed or released by the sample, as well as small differences between thermal outputs with regard to a reference measurement of the same magnitude. To this end, a most minute amount of liquid is located inside a measuring chamber having a constant temperature and air humidity. At least one thermal sensor is provided for repeatedly measuring the thermal radiation emitted from the most minute amount of liquid. A measuring means serves to determine the time-dependent change in the most minute amount of liquid. A computer is assigned to the measuring chamber in order to register, display, evaluate and/or subsequently process the measured values.
