摘要: An object of the present invention is to determine novel means of activating plants; more particularly, means or controlling plant growth, such as means of promoting growth, means of controlling dormancy, means of imparting tolerance against stress for plants (dryness, high or low temperatures, osmotic pressure, etc.), and means of preventing aging. The present inventors have found that the above object can be achieved by providing plant activators containing, as an active ingredient, C4-C24 ketol fatty acids, in particular, 9-hydroxy-10-oxo-12(Z),15(Z)-octadecadienoic acid.

摘要: A mesh barrier rib structure to separate display cells is provided, and each of the display cells is completely separated from the adjacent cells. Bus electrodes are provided to overlap transparent electrodes. The bus electrodes are for example made of a layered body including a white Ag thin film and a black RuO2 thin film. The transparent electrode and the bus electrode form a scan electrode, while the transparent electrode and the bus electrode form a common electrode. The bus electrodes are provided in the closest positions to the surface discharge gap between the transparent electrodes. Therefore, priming discharge is generated in the vicinity of the discharge gap, and light emission can be restrained in the priming period.

摘要: An object is to obtain a container for measurement of cell functions which is simplified in operation, less risky and capable of measuring the cell functions very accurately. A container for measurement of cell functions, for use in the determination of a physiologically active substance produced by blood cells, is constituted such that an amount of material capable of inducing production of the physiologically active substance, when extracted by collecting water of a volume equal to a liquid volume to be subjected to measurement, is controlled at a level insufficient to induce production of the physiologically active substance from the blood cells. A container for measurement of cell functions in which a material capable of inducing production of a physiologically active substance in blood when contacted with the blood is accommodated in such a condition as being contactable with blood, and in which an amount of the material capable of inducing production of the physiologically active substance in the container before use is limited to a level insufficient to influence a measured value of the physiologically active substance.

摘要: Collation Fourier image data (FIG. 1D) FB generated by performing the two-dimensional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) for the image data (FIG. 1C) of a collation pattern is synthesized with registration Fourier image data (FIG. 1B) generated by performing the two-dimensional DFT for the image data of a registration pattern. After amplitude suppression processing is performed for the resultant data, two-dimensional DFT is performed. A correlation peak is extracted from a correlation component area which appears in the synthesized Fourier image data (FIG. 1E) for which the two-dimensional DFT has been performed. A predetermined area including this correlation peak is then masked (FIG. 1F). The two-dimensional DFT is performed for the masked synthesized Fourier image data, and amplitude restoration processing is performed for the data. The resultant data is re-synthesized with the registration Fourier image data FA, and the two-dimensional IDFT is performed for the synthesized data. With this processing, image data containing a difference pattern like the one shown in FIG. 1G or a moving pattern can be obtained.

摘要: A perpendicular magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer comprised of two stacked sublayers each in the form of ferromagnetic metal thin film consisting of columnar crystal grains wherein the angle .theta. between the average growth direction of the columnar crystal grains and a normal to the substrate is .theta..gtoreq.45.degree. for the lower sublayer and .theta..ltoreq.30.degree. for the upper sublayer, and the mean maximum diameter of columnar crystal grains of the lower sublayer is not smaller than the mean maximum diameter of columnar crystal grains of the upper sublayer. An apparatus suitable for the evaporation of the magnetic layer is arranged as shown in the Figure. Magnetic flux associated with the upper sublayer finds an escape to the lower sublayer, preventing formation of a closed loop of magnetic flux within the columnar crystal grains of the upper sublayer. The lower sublayer is magnetized, thus contributing to an improvement in reproduction output.

摘要: A magnetic recording medium for digital recording has a magnetic layer on a non-magnetic substrate. The magnetic layer includes a lower layer of ferromagnetic metal thin film nearer to the substrate surface and an upper layer of ferromagnetic metal thin film, each ferromagnetic metal thin film being composed of columnar grains deposited by oblique evaporation process. The average growth directions of columnar grains in the lower and upper layers intersect each other from opposite sides of a normal to the substrate surface. Digital recording is carried out by means of a magnetic head in relative motion toward or opposite to the growth direction of columnar grains in the upper layer.
