The invention provides a fuel cell compressor system that comprises a motor, including a motor shaft driven by the motor; a drive housing at least partially surrounding the motor shaft; a first gear set driven by the motor shaft; a carrier torque tube driven by the first gear set; and an impeller. The impeller includes an impeller shaft driven by the second gear set, so that the impeller shaft is configured to rotate at a speed greater than motor speed. Embodiments of the invention may also be used with a multi-stage compressor that allows, for example, first and second impellers to rotate at different speeds. Embodiments of the invention may also include removal of a gear set driving the carrier torque tube or the impeller shaft, so that the impeller shaft speed is divided between one or more bearings supporting the carrier torque tube and one or more bearings supporting the impeller shaft.

When an elongate glove, such as a nitrile glove for a glove box, is made on a porcelain mold having a hand-defining portion, having an arm-defining portion, which extends from the hand-defining portion and which has an overall length at least two or more times the overall length of the hand-defining portion, having a substantially conical sub-portion, which flares upwardly and outwardly, when the porcelain mold is oriented in a dipping orientation, substantially the entire exterior of the porcelain mold is sandblasted before the porcelain mold is dipped successively into a bath containing a coagulating agent and into a bath containing a latex, then allowed to dwell in the bath containing the latex until enough of the latex coagulates to form a wet latex film on the porcelain mold, and then withdrawn with the wet latex film formed thereon from the bath containing the latex.

Durable, weatherable and scratch-resistant coatings are provided by compositions comprising a fluorinated component and an adhesion promoter compound. The adhesion promoter compound can include an alkoxy group, a furfuryl-containing ring structure, and a reactive group.
Abstract:
A fiber redirect system for use with a multi-axis robotic wrist and fiber placement system and methods of using the same are provided. The fiber redirect system may include one or more redirect mechanisms configured to alter the path of one or more fiber tows fed from a creel assembly to a fiber placement head. The redirect mechanism may be located and configured so as to be centered about either the intersection of the pitch and yaw axes of the robotic wrist or the intersection of the yaw and roll axes of the robotic wrist. In one exemplary embodiment, a first redirect mechanism is centered about the intersection of the pitch and yaw axes, a second redirect mechanism is centered about the intersection of the yaw and roll axes and a third redirect mechanism may be centered about the roll axis.

An antimicrobial device for holding writing implements. The device is generally elongate in shape and comprises a body with a channel contained therein. The channel has a first open end and a second open end. It is critical to the present invention that the body of the invention be made from an antimicrobial material, such as copper or silver or various alloys of the same. Because the body of the device according to the present invention is made from an antimicrobial material, germs and other unhealthy organisms either perish or are prevented from unduly multiplying thereby reducing the spread of unwanted contamination. In a preferred embodiment there is a stricture portion that is a reducer of the inner diameter of the second open end.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for laser scoring of flat glass sheets. The process comprises manipulating a laser beam having a substantially Gaussian intensity profile to produce an elongated heating zone on the glass sheet to be scored, the elongated heating zone having a central portion with a lower temperature than a temperature of an outer portion of the heating zone. An initial crack is made in the glass sheet, the elongated heating zone is traversed across the glass sheet coincident with the initial crack, and the heated glass is thermally shocked by directing a cooled liquid against the heated glass, thus propagating the crack. The scored glass sheet may thereafter be broken by applying bending techniques as are known in the art.

This invention provides compounds that are antagonists of melanin concentrating hormone receptor-1 (MCH-R1). The compounds are represented by formula I: where m is zero or one, n is zero to two, Y is oxygen or —N(R9)—, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R9 and Ring A are defined in the specification. Coumarin and quinolone compounds where R1 and R2 together form a fused benzo ring are preferred. The invention also provides compounds of formula VI where the coumarin moiety is replaced by a quinazolinone ring. The compounds are useful for treating MCH-R1-related disorders, particularly overweight conditions including obesity.

The present invention provides methods and compositions useful in the diagnosis and management of autoimmune diseases. In particular, the present invention provides improved methods and compositions for the diagnosis and management of Graves' disease. The methods of the present invention avoid the need for radioactivity and are much simpler, economical, and rapid than methods traditionally used for the diagnosis of Graves' disease.
