Abstract: In the threaded joint for pipes, a coating having a Vickers hardness greater than or equal to 310 is formed on a threaded portion of the box and an inner face of the box corresponding to a seal portion. The seal interference amount ratio δ/D of the seal portion in a pipe circumferential direction is greater than or equal to 0.002, where D is a seal diameter defined as an outside diameter of the pin at a seal point that is a point on the outer peripheral face of the nose of the pin at which the outer peripheral face first comes into contact with the inner peripheral face of the nose of the box and δ is an interference amount defined as an amount by which the outside diameter at the seal point is reduced by the box when the pin and the box are threadedly connected with each other.

Abstract: A biphasic nanoporous vitreous carbon material with a cementitious morphology characterized by presence of non-round porosity, having superior hardness and tribological properties, as useful for high wear-force applications. The biphasic nanoporous vitreous carbon material is produced by firing, under inert atmosphere, of particulate vitrified carbon in a composition containing (i) a precursor resin that is curable and pyrolyzable to form vitreous carbon and, optionally, (ii) addition of one or more of the following: solid lubricant, such as graphite, boron nitride, or molybdenum disulfide; a heat-resistant fiber reinforcement, such as copper, bronze, iron alloy, graphite, alumina, silica, or silicon carbide; or one or more substances to improve electrical conductivity, such as dendritic copper powder, copper “felt” or graphite flake, to produce a superior vitreous carbon that is useful alone or as a continuous phase in reinforced composites, in relation to conventional glassy carbon materials.

Abstract: The present invention pertains to a lubricating arrangement of a chain assemblage serving to coat chain components. Particularly, the lubricating arrangement includes a first non-electrolytic nickel layer and a second PTFE alloy layer that possess 3 to 35 vol % PTFE, whereby the present invention conduces to attain an automatically lubricating capability, increase the surface hardness of the chain assemblage, and prolong the utilization thereof without affecting the tensile strength.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for manufacturing a lubricant composition comprising combining a superabsorbent polymer with a material for decreasing friction between moving surfaces. The superabsorbent polymer absorbs from about 25 to greater than 100 times its weight in water and may comprise a polymer of acrylic acid, an acrylic ester, acrylonitrile or acrylamide, including co-polymers thereof or starch graft co-polymers thereof or mixtures thereof. A product produced by the process includes the material for decreasing friction comprising a petroleum lubricant containing an additive, water containing an additive, synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant, wherein the synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant optionally contain an additive. A process comprising controlling the delivery of a lubricant to at least one of two moving surfaces in order to decrease friction between said moving surfaces, is also disclosed. This process includes applying the lubricant composition to at least one of the surfaces. The lubricant composition in this instance comprises a superabsorbent polymer combined with a material for decreasing friction between moving surfaces, wherein the material for decreasing friction comprises a petroleum lubricant, water, synthetic lubricant, grease, solid lubricant or metal working lubricant, and optionally an additive.
