A fluorine-doped tin oxide powder is prepared by combining a solution of a stannic salt with a solution of a fluoride, separating the tin hydroxide from the liquid and drying it at a temperature not exceeding about room temperature and heating the dried product to at least 500.degree. C., until the fluorine content is less than 10% and preferably is between 1 and 5% by weight. The fluorine-doped tin oxide powder of the invention can be used for the manufacture of electrically conductive toner powder.

A method for the production of inorganic minute globular particles, which comprises forming a W/O type sol emulsion by mixing at least one metal oxide-containing sol selected from the group consisting of (a) metal oxide sols and (b) mixed sols containing said metal oxide sols and an inorganic compound, an alkoxide, or a sol of at least one other element with an organic solvent insoluble or sparingly soluble in water in the presence of a surfactant; mixing said emulsion with a basic substance or an electrolyte thereby converting the sol forming the water layer in said emulsion into gel thereby obtaining globular gel particles; and subsequently heating the globular gel particles thereby expelling from the system the water in the globular gel particles in the form of a mixture thereof with the organic solvent.

A process for the production of transparent, electrically conductive, infrared-reflecting indium oxide-tin oxide layers, especially on glass panes, involves steps wherein the glass panes are dipped into a first solution containing a hydrolyzable silicon compound and hydrolyzable compounds of titanium, zirconium, aluminum, tin or tantalum;the glass panes are heated up to 450.degree. C. in a moisture-containing atmosphere;the initially coated panes are dipped into a second solution containing hydrolyzable compounds of indium and of tin;the panes are dried at temperatures below 250.degree. C.; andthe panes are finally heated up to 550.degree. C. in a reducing atmosphere.

A method is provided for selective removal of copper contaminants from aqueous activator solutions which also contain palladium and tin. It comprises placement of insoluble electrodes in the aqeuous solution and application of a low voltage, preferably ranging from between 0.05 to 5.0 volts across the electrodes, whereby metallic copper is selectively deposited upon the cathode, with palladium and tin remaining in the aqueous solutions. Typically, the soluble copper ions are present as contaminants in activator solutions utilized in various electroless metal plating processes.
