Abstract:
A system and method for disintegrated channel estimation in wireless networks. The system provides a disintegrated channel estimation technique required to accomplish the spatial diversity supported by cooperative relays. The system includes a filter-and-forward (FF) relaying method with superimposed training sequences for separately estimating the backhaul and the access channels. To reduce inter-relay interference, a generalized filtering technique is provided which multiplexes the superimposed training sequences from different relays to the destination by time-division multiplexing (TDM), frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) and code-division multiplexing (CDM) methods.
Abstract:
A system and method for performing initial synchronization during wireless sector searches. The system includes a first subsystem for coarse timing alignment including a decimator to reduce computational complexity and a long-lag differential correlator, a second subsystem for jointly estimating RTE and FFO utilizing a short-lag differential correlator, and a third subsystem for jointly detecting IFO and SID utilizing segmental FD MFs. The system and method of the present disclosure accounts for intercell interference, ICI, and multipath fading with assistance from inherent diversity.

Methods of analyzing macromolecules, such as entire strands of genomic DNA, are also disclosed, as well as systems for carrying out these methods.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing and identifying a Weyl semimetal. Identification is enabled via a combination of the vacuum ultraviolet (low-photon energy) and soft X-ray (SX) angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). Production generally requires providing high purity raw materials, creating a mixture, heating the mixture in a container at a temperature sufficient for thermal decomposition of an impurity while preventing the possible reaction between the side walls of the container and the raw materials, depositing the resulting compound and a transfer agent onto the bottom surface of the ampule, differentially heating the ampule, and allowing a chemical vapor transport reaction to complete.
Abstract:
The invention provides an article of manufacture, and methods of designing and making the article. The article permits or prohibits waves of energy, especially photonic/electromagnetic energy, to propagate through it, depending on the energy band gaps built into it. The structure of the article may be reduced to a pattern of points having a hyperuniform distribution. The point-pattern may exhibit a crystalline symmetry, a quasicrystalline symmetry or may be aperiodic. In some embodiments, the point pattern exhibits no long-range order. Preferably, the point-pattern is isotropic. In all embodiments, the article has a complete, TE- and TM-optimized band-gap. The extraordinary transmission phenomena found in the disordered hyperuniform photonic structures of the invention find use in optical micro-circuitry (all-optical, electronic or thermal switching of the transmission), near-field optical probing, thermophotovoltaics, and energy-efficient incandescent sources.
