    摘要: Systems and methods for detecting in motion railcar seismic data generated by defective railcar axles of a train traveling on a track. The method uses two or more seismic sensors on the side of the track to capture seismic noise generated by railcar wheels. A wheel that exceeds a preset seismic noise threshold in amplitude, will trigger a wheel tracking algorithm that calculates seismic phase shift data related to the actively tracked wheel noise level, to determine the precise location, in real time, of the faulty wheel carriage while moving. Knowing the precise location of the tracked wheel allows the system to isolate the railcar and capture the railcar and wheel carriage identification information.Subsequently, a railcar log is made on a computer database with the railcar identification information and made available to control centers via ground or satellite links.

    摘要: The invention relates to a self-propelled vehicle (10) provided only with rail-engaging rolling means (18) comprising: a chassis (14); a working surface (16) connected thereto for supporting equipment, materials (20) and personnel; and positioning means (22, 24) connected to the chassis for lifting the vehicle and moving it laterally with respect to a direction of rail travel between a trackside location and an on-track location (12). A lifting apparatus (28) is mountable on the chassis and moveable along the length of the working surface (16). By providing only rail-engaging rolling means (18), the height of the vehicle's overlying working surface (16) above the track (12) and surrounding ground is significantly reduced as compared to existing dual purpose road-rail vehicles. The vehicle is capable of working safely below live overhead lines and alongside tracks open to traffic thus avoiding the need to for full closure of tracks during maintenance and inspection works.

    摘要: An anti-theft device for use with a locomotive horn is disclosed. An angled L-shaped bracket of the anti-theft device has a horizontal portion that is connected to an anti-theft or tamper proof fastener used to attach a base of the horn to the locomotive. A vertical portion of the bracket receives a shackle portion of a padlock for connection with and locking on the bracket. A bushing is placed on the shackle portion of the padlock over the anti-theft fastener to limit slack of the padlock relative to the bracket. When assembled with the locomotive horn, the anti-theft device at least partially covers the anti-theft fastener such that access to and/or removal of at least the anti-theft fastener is substantially prevented. Thus, theft of the horn is reduced and/or prevented.

    摘要: A displacement detecting apparatus is provided with a self-position detector for detecting a position and an orientation of the apparatus relative to a preset reference position and a preset reference orientation. Displacement of a rail at an upper surface reference point and a side surface reference point relative to a preset reference position is calculated from imaged image data of the surfaces of the rail using an optical cutting method, and the calculated displacement of the rail is corrected using data obtained from the self-position detector, thereby compensating for errors caused by differences in position and orientation of the apparatus associated with a vehicle running motion. By doing so, the displacement detecting apparatus is superior in maintenance and unlikely to cause measurement errors.

A center plate load cell is attached to the bottom of the railcar body and supports the first end of the railcar body on a truck assembly via the center bowl of the truck assembly. A pair of side bearing load cells are mounted to the bottom of the railcar body so as to flank the center plate load cell. A pair of side bearings are positioned on the top surface of the truck assembly bolster in alignment with the pair of side bearing load cells. Circuitry sums signals from the center plate load cell and the pair of side bearing load cells to provide a summed output corresponding to a weight of the railcar load. The summed output is conditioned and transmitted via a satellite and/or cable system to a remote receiving station.
