    Abstract: A phosphorus-containing silsesquioxane is represented by the formula [R13SiO1/2]m[R2SiO3/2]n[R3SiO3/2]p[(R4O)2PO(CH2)xSiO3/2]q wherein each of R1, R2, R3, and R4 independently represents a hydrocarbyl group; x represents an integer of from 1 to 8; m is a positive number less than 1.5; n and q are positive numbers greater than 0 and less than 1; and p is a number greater than or equal to 0 and less than 1. Further, (n+p)/q is in a range of from 0.5 to 99, and (n+p+q)=1. Curable and cured compositions comprising the phosphorus-containing silsesquioxane are disclosed.

    Abstract: A halogen-free, electrically insulating film comprising a resin component containing:a) from 0 to about 40 parts of a rubber selected from EP or EPDM rubber,b) correspondingly, from about 60 to about 100 parts of an ethylene vinyl acetate polymer,c) from about 40 parts to about 150 parts ethylene diamine phosphate per 100 parts of said resin component, andd) from about 0.5 to about 5 parts of an amino-functional silane coupling agent per 100 parts resin component,wherein a nonoriented film self-extinguishes in less than about 5 seconds, has an elongation at break of at least about 200%, a dielectric strength of at least about 1200 V/Mil, and said film has a stress-strain relationship such that a curve showing a first derivative of stress versus strain is positive over the entire curve, and a curve showing a second derivative of stress versus strain is negative over more than 50% of said curve.

    Abstract: A cable includes a plurality of conductor sets. Each conductor set extending along a length of the cable and includes two or more insulated conductors, each insulated conductor including a central conductor surrounded by a dielectric material that includes polyolefin, a brominated flame retardant, and antimony trioxide. First and second conductive shielding films are disposed on opposite first and second sides of the conductor set, including cover portions and pinched portions arranged such that, in transverse cross section, the cover portions of the first and second shielding films in combination substantially surround the conductor set, and the pinched portions of the first and second shielding films in combination form pinched portions of the conductor set on each side of the conductor set. The cable includes an adhesive layer bonding the first shielding film to the second shielding film in the pinched portions of the conductor set.
