Abstract: The present disclosure relates to structures and associated systems for connecting a hub apparatus to a wheel. In some embodiments, the hub apparatus includes (1) a housing assembly having an outer radius; and (2) a mounting portion circumferentially provided on at least one side surface of the housing assembly. The mounting portion is formed with a plurality of coupling structures configured to couple the hub apparatus to a wheel rim. The mounting portion defines a first radius smaller than the outer radius.

Abstract: A vehicle includes a fender, a storage compartment, and a first retaining wall. The fender has an inner surface, an outer surface, and a through hole connecting the inner surface and the outer surface. The storage compartment has a bottom plate. The bottom plate of the storage compartment is located at a side of the outer surface of the fender and at least covers the through hole. The fender is located below the storage compartment in a top-bottom direction of the vehicle. The first retaining wall is disposed on the outer surface of the fender and surrounds at least a portion of the through. A portion of the first retaining wall is closer to a front of the vehicle than the through hole in a front-rear direction of the vehicle.

Abstract: A portable electrical energy storage device is provided with a frame that includes a plurality of receptacles for receiving a portion of a portable electrical energy storage cell. A cap is provided over the plurality of receptacles and the portion of the portable electrical energy storage cells received in the frame. In some embodiments, a passageway extends between adjacent receptacles. Disposed within the passageway is a plug which exhibits more resistance to thermal energy migration than other portions of the frame that define the adjacent receptacles.

Abstract: A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices (e.g., batteries, supercapacitors or ultracapacitors). Locations of collection, charging and distribution machines having available charged portable electrical energy storage devices are communicated to or acquired by a mobile device of a user or a navigation system of a user's vehicle. The locations are indicated on a graphical user interface on a map relative to the user's current location. The user may select particular locations on the map to reserve an available portable electrical energy storage device at a particular collection, charging and distribution machine location. The collection, charging and distribution machine locations displayed may also be based on a physical distance or driving time from the current location of the user mobile device or vehicle.

Abstract: A network of collection, charging and distribution machines collect, charge and distribute portable electrical energy storage devices. To charge, the machines employ electrical current from an external source. As demand at individual collection, charging and distribution machines increases or decreases relative to other collection, charging and distribution machines, a distribution management system initiates redistribution of portable electrical energy storage devices from one collection, charging and distribution machine to another collection, charging and distribution machine in an expeditious manner. Also, redeemable incentives are offered to users to return or exchange their portable electrical energy storage devices at selected collection, charging and distribution machines within the network to effect the redistribution.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods and associated systems for charging exchangeable energy storage devices positioned in a device-exchange station. The method includes, for example, (1) receiving demand information; (2) determining a charging plan for the device-exchange station at least partially based on a state-of-charge (SoC) of each of the exchangeable energy storage devices positioned in the device-exchange station, the demand information, and a charging threshold for each of the exchangeable energy storage devices positioned in the device-exchange station; (3) generating a charging command for each of the exchangeable energy storage devices based on the charging rule for each of the exchangeable energy storage devices; and (4) transmitting the charging commands to the device-exchange station.
