    摘要: There is disclosed linear polymers and copolymers of polymerized monoethylenically unsaturated monomers having a weight average molecular weight from about 1,500 to about 15,000, with most of the polymer ends being terminated with hydroxyl groups, one at each end of the polymer molecule. These polymers have an average of from about 1.6 to 5 hydroxyl groups per polymer molecule. Thermosetting coating compositions containing these polymers are also disclosed. The monomers which are polymerized may include a small proportion of hydroxy-functional monomers, but desirably consist of monoethylenically unsaturated monomers lacking hydroxyl functionality. The polymers are produced by polymerizing the monoethylenically unsaturated monomers in organic solvent solution medium containing a free radical initiator and a proportion of a chain-terminating agent which is a bis hydroxyorganic xanthogen disulfide in which the organic group is preferably an alkylene group contains from 2-18 carbon atoms to provide the desired molecular weight. The polymers are preferably liquid to slowly flowable at room temperature in the absence of organic solvent.

The guide wire has a core wire with distal and proximal ends or segments wherein two coils are tandomly disposed on its distal end.The more proximally-disposed of the distal coils is multifilar having from 4 to 15 filars all wound in one direction. The multifilar coil comprises a super elastic material. The more distal of the distally-disposed coils comprises a radiopaque material, the core wire terminating with an atraumatic tip. A guide wire of this invention is particularly well suited to navigation of the neuroanatomy.

    摘要: Ultraviolet curing oligomers and liquid coating compositions based thereon are disclosed which cure with ultraviolet light in the presence of a photoinitiator. The coating compositions can provide either a single coating for optical glass fiber which resists microbending difficulties down to around -40.degree. C., or a topcoat for overcoating softer buffer coatings which resist microbending down to around -60.degree. C. The coating compositions consist essentially of the linear polyacrylate-terminated polyurethane polyurea oligomer in admixture with an ultraviolet curable liquid acrylate or polyacrylate to provide the liquidity needed for application and to adjust the hardness or softness of the cured coating for the selected single coat or topcoat utility. The linear polyacrylate-terminated polyurethane polyurea oligomer comprises a linear polyurethane terminated with an essentially monohydric adduct of low molecular weight diprimary amine with from about 1 to about 2.5 moles of monoepoxide per mole of diamine and reacted with a monohydric acrylate to leave about 1 hydroxy group per molecule. The several acrylate terminal groups increases the toughness and the cure speed.

    摘要: Radiation-curable linear addition polymers or copolymers are disclosed having a weight average molecular weight of from about 1,500 to about 15,000 of polymerized monoethylenically unsaturated monomers, which may include up to 25% by weight of an hydroxy-functional monomer, and which carries an hydroxyl group at most of its ends, reacted with a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer carrying a single functional group reactive with the hydroxyl group, so that the polymer carries monoethylenically unsaturated groups bonded to an average of from 1.6 to 5 of the hydroxyl groups per polymer molecule. The preferred radiation-curable polymers are liquid to slowly flowable at room temperature in the absence of organic solvent, and the monoethylenically unsaturated groups are preferably acrylate groups to enable an ultraviolet cure. The terminal hydroxyl groups and the unusually low molecular weight are provided using a bis hydroxyorganic xanthogen disulfide as a chain terminating catalyst when the polymers are formed, and a small proportion of additional hydroxy functionality can be incorporated into the polymers using a hydroxyl functional monomer.
