Abstract:
A high performance sulfated lubricating grease effectively lubricates front-wheel drive joints as well as other equipment. The lubricating grease has excellent extreme pressure properties and antiwear qualities and is economical, effective, and safe. In one preferred form, the sulfated lubricating grease comprises a base oil, a polyurea thickener, a borated oil-separation inhibitor, and a special synergistic, additive package comprising calcium sulfate and calcium carbonate.
Abstract:
A process is provided for preventing grease fires, which is particularly useful in steel mills and process mills. In the process, when a flame is ignited and approaches a special grease, the special grease emits carbon dioxide to extinguish the flame and prevents combustion of the grease.
Abstract:
A method is provided for manufacturing a grease that exhibits high performance qualities at extremely cold temperatures and moderately elevated temperatures, as well as under normal operating conditions. In the method, a lithium soap thickener is formed in, heated, and mixed with polyalphaolefin. Upon cooling, a diester oil is blended with the polyalphaolefin and lighium soap thickener. Subsequently, extreme pressure antiwear additives and oxidation and corrosion inhibitors are added to the grease. Special hydroxides can also be intermittently added to enhance the performance of the grease under extreme temperatures as well as to minimize oil bleeding and transesterification.
Abstract:
A high performance grease is provided that performs well at extremely cold temperatures and moderately elevated temperatures, as well as under normal operation conditions. The high performance grease comprises: a lithium soap thickener, a synthetic base oil blend of diester and polyalphaolefin, and extreme pressure antiwear additives and inhibitors comprising dithiocarbamates, phosphates, and hydroxides.
Abstract:
A high performance lubricating grease effectively lubricates and greases front-wheel drive joints. The front-wheel drive grease has excellent extreme pressure properties and antiwear qualities and is economical, non toxic and safe. In one preferred form, the front-wheel drive grease comprises a base oil, a thickener comprising polyurea and calcium complex soap, and an additive package comprising tricalcium phosphate and calcium carbonate.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition. The lubricant composition includes (a) a phenate, a sulfonate, or both; and (b) a base composition wherein the base composition is (i) a metal carbonate and a metal sulfate, (ii) a metal sulfate and a metal phosphate; (iii) a metal sulfate and a metal carboxylate; (iv) a metal phosphate and a metal carboxylate; or (v) three-way or four-way combination of a metal sulfate, a metal carboxylate, a metal phosphate, and a metal carbonate; and (c) a lubricating oil or a grease.
Abstract:
Lubricant oil and grease composition containing an additive package comprising wear-resistant additives in the form of nanoparticles, wherein the additives are a carbonate selected from the group consisting of a carbonate of a Group 1a alkali metal and a carbonate of a Group 2a alkaline earth metal, a sulfate of a Group 1a alkali metal or a Group 2a alkaline earth metal, a phosphate of a Group 1a alkali metal or Group 2a alkaline earth metal, a carboxylate of a Group 1a alkali metal and a carbonate of a Group 2a alkaline earth metal, or a combination thereof.
Abstract:
A method for converting a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock to a lower boiling temperature product is described which comprises suspending metal sulfide particles and oxide particles in a reaction zone including hydrogen and the hydrocarbonaceous feedstock at hydrocracking conditions. The metal sulfide particles and the oxide particles are introduced into the reaction zone through particle precursor fluids which precipitate upon heating to form the particles. The metal sulfide particles contain sulfidable transition metals. The oxide particles contain oxidizable elements such as magnesium, aluminum, silicon, phosphorous, calcium, scandium, titanium, gallium, germanium, zirconium, cerium, and mixtures thereof and are not hydrogenation catalysts under the reactor conditions. The oxide particles resist being chemically reduced by reducing agents in the reaction zone. Surprisingly, the presence of the oxide particles is associated with a significant reduction of coke production in the reaction zone. A hydrogenation catalyst precursor comprising a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock, a sulfide particle precursor fluid, and an oxide particle precursor fluid is also described.
Abstract:
An improved smoother extreme pressure wear-resistant wheel bearing grease provides high temperature bearing life. These qualities are attributable to a special combination of additives blended in the greases, including: succinate, sulfonate, phosphate, carbonate, and sodium nitrite.
Abstract:
A high performance, environmentally compatible railroad grease effectively lubricates railroad tracks and wheels of railway cars in compliance with environmental rules and regulations. Advantageously, the novel railroad grease is safe for plant life and animals as well as for fish in underground aquifers and nearby streams. The railroad grease desirably comprises a special adhesive polymer and an extreme pressure, anti-wear additive package, preferably a food grade additive package, comprising carbonates combined with sulfates or phosphates.
