An electrically conductive liquid silicone rubber composition having (A) 100 parts by weight of an organopolysiloxane having a viscosity of 10-100,000 centipoise at 25° C., (B) 1-100 parts by weight of a finely divided silica powder, (C) 30-700 parts by weight of a metal powder or an electrically conductive metal-plated powder, and (D) a curing agent in an amount sufficient to cure the organopolysiloxane. The composition has a low volumetric resistivity, a stable electrical resistance and can be injection-molded and cured to give an outstanding silicone rubber that is useful in electrical components and electrical contacts employed in high-conductivity applications.

A novel self-adhesive silicone rubber composition is disclosed which gives a cured silicone rubber capable of being firmly bonded to the surface of various kinds of substrate materials even without the pre-treatment of the substrate surface with a primer so that the composition is useful as a coating material in the preparation of a silicone rubber-coated cloth advantageous in respect of the firm adhesion of the cured silicone rubber layer to the substrate cloth. The composition is characterized by the formulation of a unique component which is an organosilane compound having an isocyanato-containing group and a hydrolyzable group in a molecule such as 3-isocyanatopropyl trimethoxy silane.

A modified organopolysiloxane comprising [R.sup.1.sub.2 SiO.sub.2/2 ] or [R.sup.1.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 ] units wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 12 carbon atoms, at least two R.sup.1 substituents per molecule being replaced by specific isocyanurate or cyanurate groups is a vulcanization activator for assisting in vulcanization of fluorocarbon rubber or fluorocarbon/silicon rubber compositions with peroxide vulcanizing agents. It is prepared by reacting triallyl isocyanurate, triallyl cyanurate or a derivative thereof with dimethylchlorosilane or methyldichlorosilane in the presence of a platinum catalyst to form a chlorosilane containing diallylisocyanurate or diallylcyanurate groups, followed by hydrolysis. An alternative process is by reacting triallyl isocyanurate, triallyl cyanurate or a derivative thereof with a siloxane in the presence of a platinum catalyst.

A novel acrylic rubber composition is proposed which has excellent moldability and good releasability from the metallic surfaces of milling rollers for the compounding works and metal molds for shaping and vulcanizing the composition into vulcanizates. The composition comprises: (a) an acrylic copolymer as the rubber base; (b) carbon black or a finely divided silica filler as a reinforcing agent; and (c) an organopolysiloxane having, in a molecule, at least one carboxyl-functional group such as .omega.-carboxyl undecyl group, bonded to the silicon atom, which can be prepared, for example, by the hydrosilation reaction between a SiH-containing organopolysiloxane and an alkyl undecylenate followed by hydrolysis of the ester group into carboxyl group.

A rubber composition based on a rubbery polymer and a silica-based reinforcing filler can be imparted with a greatly improved workability in roll milling and molding as well as in the mechanical properties of the vulcanizates prepared therefrom when the rubber composition is admixed with an acetylene alcohol or an alkylene-oxide adduct of acetylene alcohol presumably by virtue of the improvement in the dispersibility of the reinforcing filler in the rubbery matrix. The improvement obtained by the addition of the acetylene alcohol compound is not limited to the dispersibility of silica fillers but also to the dispersibility of carbon black when the rubbery polymer is an organopolysiloxane-modified acrylic polymer.

A perfluoropolyether rubber composition is useful for forming a polymer electrolyte membrane, comprising (A) an alkenyl-containing perfluoropolyether, (B) a silicon-oxygen crosslinked structure having ionic conduction, and (C) a peroxide crosslinker. The silicon-oxygen crosslinked structure is obtained by simultaneously effecting oxidation and hydrolysis on an organoxysilane having an epoxy group and an organoxysilane having a mercapto group for thereby converting the mercapto group into a sulfonic group, and neutralizing the resulting sulfonic group-containing siloxane with a nitrogen-containing compound.

A conductive powder is incorporated in a pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprising a silicone gum, an MQ resin, and a crosslinking agent. The conductive powder consists of core particles of inorganic material or organic resin, an interlayer of silicon-base polymer, and a metal plating. The resulting conductive silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive composition is satisfactorily adherent to silicone rubber and cures into a product that exhibits stable conductivity and adhesive properties in the temperature region where silicone rubber is used.

A conductive composition is obtained by dispersing conductive particles in a curable polymer. At least 50% by weight of the entire conductive particles are those conductive particles coated with a metal on their outermost layer surface and having a specific gravity which differs within ±1.5 from the specific gravity of the curable polymer. The composition remains stable during storage, experiences a minimal change with time of curability, and cures into a conductive rubber which experiences a minimal change with time of volume resistivity.
