    摘要: A delivery device for an osteochondral graft comprising a tube, a plunger and a graft retention assembly is disclosed. The tube has a bore having an inside diameter and extends from a proximal end to a distal end. The inside diameter of the bore is sufficient to accept an osteochondral graft of a desired diameter. The tube has a set of apertures located adjacent the distal end of the tube. The plunger is slidably disposed within the bore of the tube. The graft retention assembly comprises a collar and a set of tabs. The graft retention assembly is attached to the tube such that the tabs are disposed within the apertures of the tube. The tabs are biased towards each other but are capable of being displaced away from each other to receive or release the osteochondral graft.

    摘要: An improved method and apparatus for reducing a hip fracture utilizing a minimally invasive procedure which does not require incision of the quadriceps. A femoral implant in accordance with the present invention achieves intramedullary fixation as well as fixation into the femoral head to allow for the compression needed for a femoral fracture to heal. To position the femoral implant of the present invention, an incision is made along the greater trochanter. Because the greater trochanter is not circumferentially covered with muscles, the incision can be made and the wound developed through the skin and fascia to expose the greater trochanter, without incising muscle, including, e.g., the quadriceps. After exposing the greater trochanter, novel instruments of the present invention are utilized to prepare a cavity in the femur extending from the greater trochanter into the femoral head and further extending from the greater trochanter into the intramedullary canal of the femur. After preparation of the femoral cavity, a femoral implant in accordance with the present invention is inserted into the aforementioned cavity in the femur. The femoral implant is thereafter secured in the femur, with portions of the implant extending into and being secured within the femoral head and portions of the implant extending into and being secured within the femoral shaft.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a spinal hook body for use in a posterior spinal system including components designed to be affixed to the spinal column of a person to correct for various lateral and sagittal deformities. The hook body is adapted to interconnect a structure having a stud extending outwardly therefrom with an elongated rod. The hook body includes a recess with an opening at one side to receive the stud therein through the opening. The hook body further includes a bore in the body connected with the recess and adapted to receive the rod therethrough. A locking member is utilized for locking the hook body to the stud and rod. The spinal hook bodies are used in conjunction with the spinal system which also includes a pair of smooth surfaced rods mounted in spaced relation to one another on the spinal column in conjunction with various fixation devices such as clamps with the hook bodies, hooks, screws with the hook bodies and couplers. Each such fixation device utilizes locking sleeve assemblies at each connection point to secure the respective fixation device to the respective rod or rods. The coupler assemblies are provided to maintain the spacing of the rods. The method of performing surgery using the posterior spinal system is also disclosed.

    摘要: The present disclosure provides a surgical instrument that creates a vacuum seal between a prosthetic component and a surgical instrument to grasp the prosthetic component so that the surgical instrument may be utilized to manipulate the prosthetic component relative to an anatomical structure. The surgical instrument is further designed to be used as an impactor capable of receiving and transferring an impaction force for seating the prosthetic component relative to the anatomical structure without the surgical instrument losing its grasp on the prosthetic component. The surgical instrument of the present disclosure includes a suction device which may be selectively released once the prosthetic component is appropriately positioned and seated relative to the anatomical structure. Such selective release prevents disruption of the positioning of the prosthetic component and facilitates proper placement and implantation of the prosthetic component.
