摘要: A high speed connector includes a plurality of wafer-style components in which two columns of conductive terminals are supported in an insulative support body, the body including an internal cavity disposed between the two columns of conductive terminals. The terminals are arranged in horizontal pairs, and the internal cavity defines an air channel between each horizontal pair of terminals arranged in the two columns of terminals. The terminals are further aligned with each other in each row so that horizontal faces of the terminals in the two rows face each other to thereby promote broadside coupling between horizontal pairs of terminals.

摘要: A connector for an edge card includes an elongated insulative housing with a central edge card-receiving slot formed in its top surfaces between two opposing sidewalls of the housing. The housing incudes two sets of terminal-receiving cavities disposed between the two side walls. The cavities are spaced apart from each other and separated by intervening cavity walls and the cavities are open to the exterior of the connector housing at the top and bottom of the housing. Conductive terminals are inserted into the cavities, preferably from the bottom and the terminals contain contact portions that are adapted to engage confronting contact pads on the edge card. The contact portions extend through additional openings of the cavities so that part of the contact portions extend into the card-receiving slot. The housing includes two preload walls that extend the length of the housing and separate the top openings from the slot openings of the cavities.

摘要: A connector for connecting first and second electronic components, the components each having an array of contact pads. The connector comprises a dielectric housing having substantially planar top and bottom surfaces and sidewalls connecting the top and bottom surfaces as well as a plurality of substantially open receptacles in the housing. A plurality of contact members individually disposed in distinct ones of the plurality of receptacles. The contact members extending above the top surface and below the bottom surface to contact respective ones of the contact pads of the first and second circuit components. The contact members comprise an elastomeric dielectric core, a first electrically conductive wire wrapped around the core in a first direction, and may include a second electrically conductive wire wrapped around the core and the first wire in a second direction with the second wire contacting the first wire at a plurality of wire contact points to provide electrical connection between the first and second wires.

摘要: A push-pull edge card electrical connector is adapted for receiving an edge of a printed circuit board having contact pads on opposite sides of the board adjacent the edge. The connector includes an elongated dielectric housing having an elongated slot for receiving the edge of the printed circuit board. A plurality of first and second alternating terminal-receiving cavities are spaced along at least one side of the slot and separated by transverse walls extending generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the housing. The cavities are disposed between longitudinal side walls of the housing and a reinforcing rib extends across and joins the transverse walls of at least some of the cavities generally adjacent the slot. A first press-fit recess is located generally adjacent but spaced from one of the longitudinal sidewalls of the first cavities and a second press-fit recess is located generally adjacent but spaced from the reinforcing rib within the second cavities. A plurality of first and second terminals are provided with each first terminal received in one of the first terminal-receiving cavities and each second terminal is received in one of the second terminal-receiving cavities. Each of the terminals includes a base portion having a retention section press-fit within the press-fit recess of its respective cavity.

摘要: A surface mounted electrical connector assembly includes a dielectric housing having a mounting peg projecting outwardly from one surface of the housing for insertion into a hole in a printed circuit board. The mounting peg is split to define a slot extending through a distal end of the peg. A bifurcated metal retainer member having barbs thereon is disposed in the slot and projects transversely outwardly therefrom for biasingly engaging the board. Inwardly projecting ribs are provided on the peg, within the slot, with the ribs being engageable with the metal retainer member when the peg is inserted into the hole in the printed circuit board. The ribs are spaced axially from a distal end of the retainer member whereby the retainer member is maintained spaced from the peg within the slot in a zone between the rib means and the distal end of the peg. By selecting the point at which the rib means engage the metal retainer member, a method is provided for optimizing the relative insertion and retention forces between the connector assembly and the printed circuit board and for accommodating different insertion and retention force requirements.

摘要: A card edge electrical connector is shown for providing electrical connections between a printed circuit card and a printed circuit board wherein the printed circuit card has either a 32 bit or a 16 bit capacity. The connector includes a housing having a retaining post that is inserted into an aperture of the printed circuit board to retain the connector to the printed circuit board. The retaining post is tubular having an axial slot extending through the sidewall thereof so as to be resilient and durable. Further, each of the contacts disposed within the connector housing includes a stabilizing arm that opposes the forces created by the insertion of the printed circuit card into the connector housing so as to distribute the opposing forces between the stabilizing arm and the base of the contact. Contacts of alternating sizes and having beams of different angles with the base are employed in the connector. However the contacts have equal path lengths between the printed circuit board and the top of the connector housing through the respective contacts.

摘要: This specification discloses a low-insertion-force connector for connecting a daughter printed circuit board to a mother board. A G- or U-shaped contact is disposed in a housing so that spring arms penetrate opposing sides of the cavity. Mating ramp surfaces and latches on latch arms center the connector in the housing and urge contact pads into electrical and mechanical contact with a base circuit board. Shrouds on the housing protect various portions of the connector from harmful contact with the edge of a printed circuit board when being mounted in the housing.

Each slider receives a contactor such that in one position the contacts will be normally closed and in a diametrically opposed position the contacts will be normally open while the actuating tab or button of the slider remains in the same position with respect to the cover and base.
