    摘要: The present invention provides a novel ascorbic acid derivative as a provitamin C with improved stability in the body and prolonged life in the body compared to conventionally known 2-O-(α-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid. The composition comprising the novel compound 2-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid has been extracted from plants such as from Ningxia Lycium barbarum L. and/or Lycium chinense Mill. The compositions comprising 2-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid may be enzymatically synthesized using β-D-glucosyltransferase. Pure 2-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid may be produced from such compositions. Alternatively, 2-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid may be produced by chemical synthesis. The 2-O-(β-D-glucopyranosyl)ascorbic acid results in higher stability and a prolonged life of vitamin C when ingested in the body compared to the corresponding α-D-glucopyranosyl derivative, and is therefore highly suitable as a provitamin C to be used in cosmetics and foods.

    摘要: An encoded-data converting apparatus and method are provided. First encoded data generated by using first encoding to encode image data is input. Header information included in the first encoded data is extracted. Header information based on second encoding is generated from the header information included in the first encoded data. Variable-length-code conversion is set up based on a predetermined parameter for use in the second encoding and an encoding parameter used in the first encoding. Encoded data in one frame is extracted from the first encoded data. A variable length code in the encoded data in the frame is converted in accordance with the variable-length-code conversion. DC components in the encoded data in the frame are decoded into quantized values and the quantized values are used to perform predictive encoding based on the second encoding. The obtained outputs are shaped and output as data encoded by the second encoding.

    摘要: An image information coding apparatus includes a cut-out or extracting unit for cutting out image information into blocks each having a predetermined size, e.g., 4.times.4 pixels, a preprocessing unit such as an orthogonal transformation unit (e.g., a Hadamard transformation unit) and a scalar quantization unit for performing predetermined preprocessing of the block as a matrix, a separator for separating a plurality of components (e.g., phase information, amplitude information, and zero information) from each element of the preprocessed matrix, information quantizers for coding individual pieces of information constituted by each component, and a synthesizer for synthesizing coding results.
