    摘要: This invention provides a process for producing a gallium nitride-based compound semiconductor laser element, characterized in that a plane inclined at not less than 0.16 degree and not more than 5.0 degrees in terms of absolute value in the direction of in (0001) Ga plane, or a plane in which the root mean square of (A2+B2) is not less than 0.17 and not more than 7.0 wherein A represents the off angle of (0001) Ga plane to direction and B represents the off angle of (0001) Ga plane to direction, is used as a crystal growth plane of a gallium nitride substrate, and an active layer is grown at a growth rate of not less than 0.5 ú/sec and not more than 5.0 ú/sec. The production process is advantageous in that, even in the case of use of a gallium nitride substrate having a large off angle, the slope efficiency is high, the element resistance is reduced, the drive voltage can be reduced, the production yield is high, the variation is small, and high-output violet light can be generated. There is also provided a compound semiconductor laser element produced by the above process.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device (1), comprising a liquid crystal display panel and an illumination unit (10). The illumination unit (10) further comprises a housing (11) having a rectangular bottom wall face and having, at its side peripheral edge parts, cut and erected pieces (141) and (142) formed by cutting out a part of the bottom wall surface and projecting the cutout parts to the rear surface, and a frame-shaped intermediate frame (20) having a display window (200) at its center part to which an illuminating member stored in the housing (11) is fixed. The intermediate frame (20) comprises locking pieces (231) inserted into opening parts (140) formed, when the cut and erected pieces are cut and raised, at positions corresponding to the cut and erected pieces (141) and (142). When the intermediate frame (20) is fixed to the housing (11), clearances formed between the cut and erected pieces (141) and (142) and the locking pieces (231) form a lead fixing parts for holding fixing leads (4) extracted from the illuminating member. The liquid display device thus provided can easily fix the leads extracted from the housing.

The double-sided tape is provided at a frame part in the outer circumference of the effective display section of the liquid crystal panel which is closer to the effective display section than the terminal part and where the first and second glass substrates overlap. The double-sided tape is narrower than the width of the frame part where the first and second glass substrates overlap. Consequently, there can be obtained a liquid crystal display having such a structure that the liquid crystal panel is insusceptible to damage when dropped.

Luminance of the light guide plate may be enhanced by utilizing lights exiting the linear lamps efficiently in the backlight of a large liquid crystal display, appropriate intervals may be sustained among the plurality of linear lamps, and luminance lowering due to high frequency interference caused by a contact of each linear lamp with a reflector may be prevented.
