Abstract: Expandable spinal implants, systems and methods are disclosed. An expandable spinal implant may include a first endplate, a second endplate, and a moving mechanism that is operably coupled to the first and second endplates. The moving mechanism may include a wedge, a first sliding frame and a second sliding frame disposed on opposite sides of the wedge, a screw guide housing a rotatable first set screw and a rotatable second set screw opposite the first set screw. The first set screw may be operably coupled to the second sliding frame and the second set screw may be operably coupled to the wedge. The moving mechanism may operably adjust a spacing between the first and second endplates upon simultaneous rotation of the first and second set screws and operably adjust an angle of inclination between the first and second endplates upon translating the first set screw or second set screw.

Abstract: A prosthesis system comprises plates that can be positioned against vertebrae and a selected resilient core that can be positioned between the plates to allow the plates to articulate. The selected resilient core can be chosen from a plurality of cores in response to patient characteristics, such as age and/or intervertebral mobility, such that the prosthesis implanted in the patient is tailored to the needs of the patient. The plurality of cores may comprise cores with different resiliencies, and one of the cores can be selected such that the upper and lower plates articulate with the desired shock absorbing resiliency and/or maximum angle of inclination when the one selected core is positioned between the plates.

Abstract: A dynamically morphing intervertebral implantable device modularly configurable and resiliently adjustable under compressive loads generated between an upper and lower vertebra is disclosed. Specifically, the configurability of the structure enables to effect variable volume and area for safe insertion and secure implantation of the device with the attendant advantage for segment stabilization between the upper and lower vertebrae. Various geometric bodies including stowed or non-stowed structural elements integrated therewith are disclosed. The geometric bodies include a prismatic body, conical body, cylindrical body, and any combination thereof. The geometric bodies including the stowed or non-stowed structural elements are modularly configurable having various sizes and dimension to accommodate a range of intervertebral spaces in order to provide a tailored fit for individual patient anatomies. The variable area and volume enable the device to have a secure and stable position within the intervertebral space thereby preventing detachment or displacement post implantation.

Abstract: A self-drilling bone fusion screw apparatus is disclosed which includes at least first and second sliding boxes. A first screw member having a tapered end and a threaded body is disposed within the first sliding box, and a second screw member having a tapered end and a threaded body disposed within the second sliding box. An adjuster adjusts the height of the sliding boxes. The screw members are screwed into vertebral bodies in order to fuse the vertebral bodies together. A plurality of the self-drilling bone fusion screw apparatuses may be attached together and/or integrated via a plate or cage. Also disclosed is a cervical facet staple that includes a curved staple base and at least two prongs attached to the bottom surface of the curved staple base.

Abstract: A spinal implant and a delivery system for spinal surgery. The delivery device may be configured to deliver, articulate, and deploy the spinal implant in a disc space between a pair of vertebrae, and to deliver or inject a bone void filler to the spinal implant for deployment of the expandable mesh component. A mesh component may provide a reservoir for larger volumes of bone void filler and greater surface area for load distribution of the spinal cage. The mesh component may include pores through which bone void filler may interdigitate against the vertebral endplates. The delivery device may include a handle having components operable to attach the spinal implant for insertion, position and orient the spinal implant in a desired location and orientation and detach the spinal implant in place. A syringe, syringe gun, and/or packing rod may be utilized to deliver bone void filler through the delivery device.

Abstract: An intervertebral implant may include an input for expanding at least two extendable support elements connected to a body at respective locations, such that the extendable support elements each apply a respective expansion force directed away from a surface of the body. Application of a single input force to the input may induce the extendable support elements to apply different amounts of expansion force. Alternatively or additionally, an intervertebral implant may include at least two portions connected together by a hinge for articulation about the hinge. In one aspect, the hinge may include at least two rigid links each pivotably connected to the two portions. In another aspect, a rigid link of the hinge may include a passageway for communicating a hydraulic fluid between the two portions. A locking system may be positionable into successive locked configurations by operation of a cam to prevent contraction of an extendable support element.
