摘要: An electromagnetic brake assembly includes a solenoid coil; a fixed ferrous brake stator; a ferrous armature having a braking face, wherein the armature is moveable in a translation direction relative to the brake stator between a disengaged position and an engaged position; and a rotating member including a mating surface and that rotates relative to the armature when the armature is in the disengaged position. When the solenoid coil is energized, the armature translationally moves from the disengaged position to the engaged position, and in the engaged position the braking face of the armature interacts with the mating surface of the rotating member to apply a braking force to the rotating member. The braking face and the mating surface may form a conical interface, and the conical interface further may include a friction O-ring positioned within a slot that permits the O-ring to roll along the braking interface when the armature moves between the disengaged position and the engaged position.

摘要: Embodiments provide devices, systems and methods for preventing deep vein (DV) thrombosis (DVT). One embodiment provides a DVT prevention device including a cuff that fits over a patient's knee, an applanator coupled to an inside cuff surface, an expandable member (EM) coupled to the applanator, a pressure source fluidically coupled to the EM and a controller for controlling EM inflation. When the EM is inflated, it applies a force to the applanator which is transmitted to the knee back surface causing a popliteal vein (PV) under the cuff to be compressed so as to increase backpressure behind the compressed PV and subsequently increase the velocity of blood flow in the leg DVs when the EM is deflated. The EM can be inflated in a cycle including pulsed inflation, inflation hold and relaxation. The cycles can be repeated and adjusted to achieve a desired increase of blood flow/velocity in leg DVs.

摘要: A device includes a first vibrational transducer and a second vibrational transducer. The first vibrational transducer has a first vibrating property. The second vibrotactile stimulator has a second vibrating property different than the first vibrating property. A collar may be configured to position the first vibrational transducer and the second vibrational transducer over a neck of a subject. A method for stimulating swallowing in a subject includes applying a first vibrotactile stimulation and applying a second vibrotactile stimulation to a throat area of the subject. The first vibrotactile stimulation has a first vibrating property and the second vibrotactile stimulation has a second vibrating property different than the first vibrating property. Example vibrating properties include vibrating frequency, vibrating frequency range, wave shape, continuousness, frequency phase, and direction of mechanical force.

The wearable assembly includes a motor mechanism and a coupler that is movable by the motor mechanism between a starting location and an unloading location. The coupler has a receiving space. The effector assembly couples to the wearable assembly and has a tension element that actuates the effector assembly. A first end of the tension element is seated in the receiving space of the coupler when the effector assembly is coupled to the wearable assembly. The first end of the tension element is releasable from the receiving space when the coupler is in the unloading location, decoupling the effector assembly from the wearable assembly.

摘要: An exoskeleton device in accordance with the present disclosure may generally include a series elastic actuator (SEA), a slider-crank mechanism and a four bar linkage mechanism. The SEA includes a motor and a ball screw coupled to a shaft of the motor via a shaft coupler, which transfers rotational motion of the shaft directly to the ball screw. The slider-crank mechanism includes a ball nut and a crank. As the ball screw rotates, the ball nut converts rotational motion of the ball screw into linear motion of the ball nut to drive the crank. The crank converts linear motion of the ball nut back into rotational motion at the input of the four bar linkage mechanism. The four bar linkage mechanism is coupled to an output of the crank and configured to provide a complex motion profile that emulates kinematics of a wearer's joint.

The limb assistance devices can attach to or be integrated with a stability aid (e.g., a walker or parallel bars). The devices may comprise an adaptor bracket configured to attach to the stability aid, an elastic cord coupled to the adaptor bracket, and an adjustment component attached to the elastic cord. Moving the stability aid (e.g., the walker) may cause the attachment component to pull the shoe of the user along with the stability aid.
