Abstract:
A steel cord comprises a core with one or more core steel filaments and further comprises a first layer of intermediate steel filaments twisted around the core, and a second layer of second steel filaments twisted around the first layer. At least one of the intermediate steel filaments is individually coated by means of a polymer with a minimum thickness of 0.010 mm. The polymer reduces the fretting between the coated intermediate steel filaments and the other steel filaments and makes the steel cord suitable for reinforcement of carcass plies of a tire.
Abstract:
A large diameter rope having improved fatigue life on a sheave, pulley, or drum is disclosed. This rope includes a blend of HMPE filaments and liquid crystal polymer filaments selected from the group of lyotropic polymer filaments and thermotropic polymer filaments. The rope may be constructed as a braided rope, a wire-lay rope, or a parallel core rope.
Abstract:
A reinforcing structure designed for handling compression stress states when the structure is molded into a composite. The structure, specifically a wrapped cord with metallic filaments contained therein, is suitable for both compression and tension load forces. The reinforcing structure has a core comprising a plurality of essentially straight, nested filaments arranged in parallel, the filaments forming a line of contact with adjacent filaments that extends along the length of the filaments. Wrapped about the core is at least one helically wound wire.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire comprises a cord-reinforced layer such as carcass, belt, bead reinforcing layer which is made of metallic cords, each metallic cord is made up of six to twelve metallic filaments whose diameter is in a range of from 0.15 to 0.45 mm, the metallic filaments include waved filaments and unwaved filaments, each waved filament is two-dimensionally waved at a wave pitch and wave height before twisted, the wave pitch is in a range of from 5.0 to 35.0 times the diameter of the filament, and the wave height is in a range of from 0.2 to 4.0 times the diameter of the filament, and the metallic filaments are twisted together into the cord at a twist pitch of from 10 to 40 mm so that the two-dimensionally waved filaments are each subjected to a certain rotation around its axial.
Abstract:
A rope comprising a plurality of wires (2, 3, 4) made of a steel wire being twisted together; at least the wires which are arranged in such a manner as to be disposed on an outer surface of the rope (1) being made of a plated steel wire wherein a corrosion resistance is superior; at least said wires which are located in a center of the rope not being made of the wire wherein the corrosion resistance is superior.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire which is provided radially outside a carcass (6) with a belt (9) made of cords (10) embedded in topping rubber, each of the belt cords comprises four steel monofilaments (12A and 12B) including one or two waved steel monofilaments (12A) and unwaved steel monofilaments (12B), the four steel monofilaments having the same diameters are compactly twisted together so as to make alternate contact portions and non-contact portions (P) with a gap (T) between at least one waved steel monofilament and the adjacent steel monofilaments, and the four steel monofilaments have the same diameter (d) of 0.2 to 0.35 mm.
Abstract:
A steel cord for reinforcing rubber products such as truck tires comprises a plurality of steel wires twisted together to form a multiwire layered cable construction having two or more successive wire layers around a common core. The wires of the outer layer are covered by a rubber adherable coating of, e.g. brass, and the wires (shaded) of the layer inwardly adjacent the surface layer are covered by a corrosion resistant coating, such as zinc or a zinc alloy.
