The taggant security system includes a paper product coating located on a paper product. The paper product coating is preferably one which is commonly used in the paper making industry. The taggant security system further includes one or more taggants incorporated within said paper product coating for authenticating said paper product. In preferred embodiments, the paper product coating is either a clay or starch coating. In addition, in preferred embodiments, the paper product is either a single or multi-ply packaging board or a label stock.

A high pressure laminate is made of several layers of paper, including from bottom to top core sheets, a decor sheet and an overlay sheet. The core sheets are either composed of cellulose fibers or composed of 30 to 90 weight percent cellulose acetate fibers and 70 to 10 weight percent cellulose fibers. The core sheets are respectively coated with either a lamination polymer or a plasticizer. The decor sheet is composed of a mixture and a conventional amount of paper making dye. The mixture comprises 30 to about 90 weight percent cellulose acetate fibers, 10 to 70 weight percent cellulose fibers and 0 to 20 weight percent fillers. The decor sheet is coated with a plasticizer. The overlay sheet is composed of cellulose fibers and is coated with a lamination polymer. Upon application of heat and pressure to the several layers a laminate is formed having thermoplastic properties, improved postformability and a significant reduction in the release of volatile organics during formation.

A method for adhesively bonding opposed paperboard surfaces to each other to form a strengthened bond in a paperboard product and paperboard products formed thereof, comprising the steps of (A) applying a green-strength adhesive to at least a portion of the first paperboard surface; (B) applying a styrene-butadiene latex adhesive or a modified styrene-butadiene latex adhesive as a strengthening adhesive to at least a portion of either the first or the second paperboard surface such that the green-strength adhesive is substantially offset from the strengthening adhesive when the first and second paperboard surfaces are positioned in an opposed relationship; (C) orienting the first and second paperboard surfaces such that they are opposed to each other: and (D) contacting the first and second surfaces together to form the strengthened bond. In addition, there is provided a method for adhesively bonding opposed paperboard surfaces to form a strengthened bond in a paperboard product, and paperboard products formed thereof, by applying strengthening adhesive consisting essentially of a styrene-butadiene latex adhesive or a modified styrene-butadiene latex adhesive to at least a portion of the first paperboard surface and contacting together the paperboard surfaces to form the strengthened bond.

A process for the production of a laminated sheet is disclosed, which comprises impregnating a base paper for laminated sheet using a wood pulp having an .alpha.-cellulose content of 87.0% or more with a synthetic resin to prepare a prepreg and subjecting the prepreg to laminate molding by heat. A process for the production of a metal foil-clad laminated sheet is also disclosed, which comprises impregnating a base paper for laminated sheet using a wood pulp having an .alpha.-cellulose content of 87.0% or more with a synthetic resin to prepare a prepreg, piling up the prepreg, placing a metal foil one either one or both sides of the prepregs, and subjecting the resulting prepregs with metal foil to laminate molding by heat. The laminated sheet or metal foil-clad laminated sheet of this invention has not only excellent punchability but also excellent electric characteristics and heat resistance and hence, it is quite useful as a laminated sheet for high density printed wiring system.
