摘要: An anode for batteries having a columnar nanostructured porous germanium for its active material. This nanostructured porous germanium can be produced with the novel etching method disclosed herein. Such anode can be easily mass-produced with the presented method that requires pre-existing, affordable and easy to integrate equipment. In some embodiments, the produced columnar porous germanium can be directly used as a monolithic anode after its etching nanostructuration for on-chip anodes for example, where the anisotropic nanostructured germanium acts as the active material and where the remaining bulk germanium layer act as the current collector. This can be easily implemented in lithium batteries. The cycle life of such anodes could be extended by a factor of 26 and 1.8 for high rate and high energy applications, respectively.

摘要: An electrochemical cell is provided which includes a cathode, an anode, an electrolyte separator, and an anode current collector located on the anode. The anode is a three-dimensional (3D) porous anode including ionically conducting electrolyte strands and pores which extend through the anode from the anode current collector to the electrolyte separator. The anode also includes electronically conducting networks extending on sidewall surfaces of the pores from the anode current collector to the electrolyte separator.

摘要: A method of making a prelithiated anode for use in a lithium-ion battery includes providing a current collector having an electrically conductive layer and a metal oxide layer overlaying the electrically conductive layer. The metal oxide layer has an average thickness of at least 0.01 μm. A continuous porous lithium storage layer is deposited onto the metal oxide layer by a CVD process. Lithium is incorporated into the continuous porous lithium storage layer to form a lithiated storage layer prior to a first electrochemical cycle when the anode is assembled into the battery. The anode may be incorporated into a lithium ion battery along with a cathode. The cathode may include sulfur or selenium and the anode may be prelithiated.

摘要: A cathode active material for a lithium secondary battery includes a nickel-based lithium metal oxide particle doped with Zr and Al. The nickel-based lithium metal oxide particle includes a core portion having a constant molar content of nickel, and a shell portion surrounding an outer surface of the core portion and having a concentration gradient in which a molar content of nickel gradually decreases in a direction from an interface with the core portion to an outermost periphery. The core portion and the shell portion are doped with Al and Zr.
